Are you our new Data Engineer - Data Governance?
As a Data Engineer at Intrum in Athens, you will join the newly established Data Governance Team and take on a hands-on engineering role: designing and implementing structured ETL/ELT pipelines, modernizing legacy processes, and delivering certified datasets for business and regulatory reporting. You will work across both on-premise (SQL Server, SSIS/SSRS/SSAS) and cloud (Azure Databricks, Airflow, Power BI) environments. This is not just a governance or policy role – we are building the technical foundation of a modern Data Warehouse, and we need engineers who can both deliver robust pipelines and ensure traceability, quality, and compliance.
What will you do:
- Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines in on-premise and cloud platforms
- Develop and optimize Power BI semantic models and Analysis Services tabular models as certified datasets
- Modernize legacy processes (SQL, Excel/CSV, SAS scripts) into automated, standardized data pipelines
- Support governance standards (policies, ownership, metadata, lineage, GDPR/DORA compliance)
- Collaborate with business teams to ensure consistent, auditable, and trusted data flows
What we’re looking for:
- Hands-on experience with SQL Server ecosystem (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS) and/or Azure Databricks (SQL/PySpark)
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration (Airflow or similar)
- Strong Power BI skills (data modeling, DAX, RLS)
- Good knowledge of data governance principles (lineage, metadata, quality, security)
- Basic ability to read and understand legacy SAS scripts for migration purposes (not required to be a SAS developer).
- Ability to interpret and apply policies and standards to day-to-day operational data processes
- Demonstrate results-oriented ability to set and deliver an action plan to achieve given goals
- Ability to perform successfully in a fast-paced environment interacting effectively with different stakeholders
- Excellent command of both written and spoken English
