Project Engineer (Temporary Opportunity up to 24 months)

In this role, you'll:
Provide technical engineering support across design assurance, change control and non-conformance management for the Tangara Fleet Life Extension (TFLE) Commercial & Supply Chain team, to ensure parts delivered for the project conform to the TFLE design and quality standards.

Prepare Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) to detail where materials do not meet requirements and follow up with suppliers to ensure timely resolution of the NCR.

Support the Supply Chain team in the management of supplier contracts by conducting quality audits of suppliers, and ensure suppliers deliver in accordance with their contract.

This is a fixed-term role to 30/06/2028 and the salary is RC5 ($124,242 - $143,310) plus super. This role is located on-site at the Auburn Heavy Maintenance Centre, you will be required to travel between Auburn, Flemington, and Chullora.

About you
Hold a tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mechanical / Mechatronics or Electrical) and have a solid technical foundation and understanding of how systems integrate across rolling stock. 

Demonstrated experience in project delivery or engineering works ideally within a rail or rolling stock environment, and have worked across areas such as design assurance, non-conformance management, and engineering change control. 

 Experience in supply chain or inventory management with the ability to manage suppliers, inventory, or parts to ensure quality and timely delivery. You understand how supply chain and inventory processes support engineering outcomes, and you’re familiar with how new parts and upgrades fit into complex systems. 

Strong communicator with the ability to collaborate across teams and engage stakeholders to ensure quality outcomes and client satisfaction.
