Job Overview
The Associate Director (AD) will help lead the Collaborative on Global Children’s Issues, and support the Executive Director (ED) in the execution of its mission to advance child rights and protection globally. The AD will work closely with the ED to build strategic partnerships; advance research and educational initiatives; develop high-impact events and learning opportunities; and support thought-leadership that brings together policy, practice, research and the lived-experience of children and young people to improve child development, well-being and protection. The AD will help increase awareness and recognition of the Collaborative as an incubator of ideas, conversations, and leadership to support holistic child development, well-being, and protection.
Vision and Strategic Leadership: The AD will help shape and implement the Collaborative’s strategy, developing activities that advance the Collaborative’s mission, values, and impact. Specifically, the AD will lead the Children in Adversity Initiative to help build a strategic path forward for child-centered stakeholders in response to the US government foreign assistance crisis. In addition to providing timely analysis on the impact of foreign assistance cuts, information sharing, and strategic engagement with partners, this initiative will also support community building and well-being for child-focused practitioners. Curriculum, Research, and Learning: The AD will advance curricular content on children and youth at Georgetown, and increase opportunities for student and faculty engagement and learning. Children’s issues do not fit neatly into one sector or discipline. The AD will advance the Collaborative’s efforts to offer university-wide credit and non-credit learning opportunities for graduate students, undergraduate students and other stakeholders. In addition, the AD may advance a new Minor or Certificate Program in Children’s Issues. The AD will also support development of a Global Fellows Program, and help the Collaborative shift from the current ad-hoc and uncompensated fellowship model, to one that brings in strategic partners to support scholar-practitioners whose research interests and profiles contribute to the Collaborative’s mission. The AD will also author papers and reports that contribute to sector-wide knowledge sharing and learning.
Work Interactions
The AD reports to the Collaborative’s Executive Director and works closely with the Program Assistant. The AD will supervise the consultants working on the Children in Adversity Initiative. The AD will support communication efforts, event promotion and donor reports, and represent the Collaborative in internal and external forums. Fundraising and donor engagement: The AD will build and maintain relationships with current and prospective donors. The AD will support grant writing, donor engagement, and reporting, in collaboration with the ED.
Requirements and Qualifications
Master’s degree and 15 years of professional or management experience in a related area, including child protection, child development, child rights, social services, and related fields
Demonstrated inclusive leadership skills, and experience building partnerships that advance the wellbeing of children, youth, and families globally
Strong written and oral communications skills; a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a complex, multi-faceted environment; experience working with vendors and partners from a variety of international backgrounds
Proven skills in time management, organization, and communication; ability to exercise discretion and maintain grace under pressure; proactive and team-spirited disposition, with ability to consult and make decisions; collaborative work style and ability to receive feedback with a willingness to respond to an evolving set of priorities.

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$80,429.00 - $157,238.93Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
