The role

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the management of the Investor AML Operations group . Will support the completion of performance management process, identification of training and development needs, and performance standards for the group. Supports management with staffing decisions, and ensuring resources are available to accomplish priorities. Manages and directs individuals within the relevant groups, usually through relevant direct reports. Participates in developing/provides input and support to the strategic plan around the delivery of AML services to the business. Provides additional leadership support within large specialized groups.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Responsible for supporting the management of the day-to-day Investor AML Operations in Guernsey.

  • Supports the oversight of the provision of Compliance as a Service to Clients (MLRO services to GP boards).

  • Act as subject matter expert in client and investor engagement. Acts as an escalation point for clients / investor issues.

  • Supports management with staffing decisions, and ensures resources are available to accomplish priorities.

  • Participates in developing/provides input and support to the strategic plan

  • Supports regulatory examinations and internal and external audits of AML related topics.

  • Advises business partners, including senior management, on compliance with applicable laws, rules and standards, including keeping them informed on developments with business procedures and processes.

  • Partners with senior management to identify Compliance programs which should require training, as well as the partners who should take certain training.

  • Establishes written guidance on compliance with and implementation of applicable laws, rules and standards.

  • Identifies, documents and, as necessary, escalates AML Compliance risks associated with the Company’s activities.

  • Supports the expansion of outsourcing support and the monitoring and relevant reporting in relation to outsourced activities.

  • Support Compliance function with collation and provision of relevant information including MI to support Regulatory and internal data demands

Skills and experience:

  • Experienced AML professional with a background in managing AML operational groups

  • Expert knowledge of AML regulations and operating model requirements including the use of RegTech solutions to support the completion of AML CDD reviews

  • Proficient with the use of workflow tools and managing large volumes of data

  • Highly polished written and verbal communication skills.

  • Understanding of operations control and the use of management tools to facilitate this, including management information dashboards and incident root cause analysis and remediation.

  • Confident communication skills, experienced engaging with senior colleagues across three lines of defence as well as clients / investors to explore issues or requests and to determine solutions or way forward.

  • Experience of strong governance and oversight frameworks, operational management and change management.

  • A collaborative, can-do approach to work, at ease operating independently or as part of a broader team.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Prior experience of working in Operational Teams where there is a third party / offshore/ outsource relationship.

  • Industry knowledge to be able to challenge credibly.
