AJC Pty Ltd.com

Office

Chippendale, New South Wales 2008, Australia

Full Time

We are seeking a people-first, forward-thinking Digital Technology Lead to guide and elevate the digital design and delivery capabilities of our 120-person architecture practice in Sydney.

This role focuses on design technology and integrated digital delivery, complementing the IT Manager’s responsibility for core infrastructure and operational systems. The Digital Technology Lead will develop and provide hands-on implementation of the practice-wide roadmap for BIM, design platforms, and digital workflows - ensuring they are aligned to our creative ambitions, project delivery needs and ISO certified Integrated Management Systems.

Success in this role requires not just technical expertise, but the ability to influence, inspire, and support cultural change—helping our teams move beyond entrenched behaviours to embrace integrated approaches that lead to better design outcomes.

Initial Focus

  • Implement and optimise a Common Data Environment (CDE) as the foundation for integrated digital delivery.
  • Elevate BIM production standards across the practice, with improved templates, content libraries, coordination workflows, and model health protocols.
  • Unlock audit and compliance capability through structured, data-rich modelling.
  • Lead the strategy with the IT Manager to align cloud-first infrastructure (Autodesk Construction Cloud, Microsoft 365, Entra ID) with design delivery requirements.
  • Embed parametric and computational design tools into practice workflows to support design exploration, site analysis, yield optimisation, and performance modelling.
  • Align workflows and industry-best practice in digital delivery with the integrated requirements of ISO 9001, 45001 and 14001.

People &Culture-Led Change

  • Act as a design technology culture champion, building trust through listening, enabling, and co-creating solutions.
  • Influence adoption by showing how digital integration enables creativity, efficiency, and quality, rather than enforcing compliance.
  • Collaborate closely with project leaders, studios, and operational groups to embed digital practice into daily work.
  • Foster a culture of curiosity, experimentation, and continuous improvement across the practice.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Strategic Leadership & Influence

  • Shape and deliver the design technology roadmap, aligned with business goals and design excellence.
  • Lead the strategy with the IT Manager and BIM resources across the firm to ensure seamless integration between design platforms and core IT infrastructure.
  • Provide guidance to senior leaders and project directors on the role of digital tools in driving project performance and innovation.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead the uplift of BIM production capability across the practice, ensuring consistency, coordination, and efficiency.
  • Deploy and manage the Common Data Environment to support collaboration, version control, and structured information exchange.
  • Implement workflows that enable auditability and regulatory compliance.
  • Champion the use of parametric design, generative tools, and site analysis software to unlock new opportunities in design outcomes.

Capability Development

  • Uplift digital literacy across the practice through structured training, onboarding, and knowledge-sharing.
  • Mentor staff in adopting new tools and methods, ensuring confidence and capability at all levels.
  • Encourage cross-team collaboration and celebrate early adopters to build momentum for change.

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Qualifications in architecture, engineering, design technology, or related disciplines.
  • Proven expertise in BIM production / project leadership and digital design technology integration within architecture, engineering, or construction including meeting requirement of Tier 1 contractors in multi-office / interstate environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining Revit family libraries, detail standards, or kit-of-parts systems that function as digital pattern books, enabling consistent and efficient delivery of repeated building elements.
  • A high-level working knowledge of Common Data Environments and their role in project delivery, including through remote offices.
  • Proficiency in large practice environments with parametric and computational design tools (Dynamo, Grasshopper, Rhino. Inside Revit, etc.)
  • Past implementation of site analysis, mapping, and yield optimisation tools (e.g. Autodesk Forma, InfraWorks, ArcGIS, or equivalent).
  • Experience working collaboratively with IT to enable cloud-first digital platforms in multi-office business environments.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and influencing skills, with the ability to shift entrenched behaviours.

Desirable

  • Working knowledge of d-Rofus, Earlymark, ArchifySpec or other similar data management systems
  • Familiarity with ISO 19650 and digital information management standards.
  • Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM 360, and API integrations.
  • Awareness of sustainability performance tools, digital twin workflows, and lifecycle data management.
