About The Role

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), you’ll be overseeing all things related to Plant, Fleet, Transport Management & Maintenance and Warehousing.

This is a strategic leadership role with oversight across Wormall Civil’s transport fleet, plant resources, operational maintenance workforce, workshop activities, and the effective management of the Wormall Civil Warehousing process.

You’ll have several direct reports, including managers, supervisors, and team members within the department.

What your day will look like

  • Building and maintaining a high-performing, collaborative, and safety-driven culture
  • Leading the strategic direction of the Transport, Plant, Site and Workshop maintenance and warehousing, ensuring alignment with company objectives
  • Establishing and monitoring departmental KPIs across cost, utilisation, safety, compliance, and customer satisfaction
  • Providing management reporting to the COO on departmental performance, risks, and improvement initiatives
  • Ensuring integration of departmental activities with broader operational and project delivery, HR, finance, and WHSEQ functions
  • Driving continuous improvement, innovation, and technology adoption within fleet, workshop, and plant management
  • Overseeing and supporting managers in delivering accurate asset registers, timesheet approvals, resourcing plans and operational and project-based logistics
  • Resolving critical issues impacting service delivery, safety, or client relationships

Skillset Needed

  • Focus on placing safety at the forefront and promoting a safety-first culture
  • 10+ years of experience managing multi-disciplined Plant, Fleet, Logistics, Maintenance and Warehousing operational teams, department, businesses, etc
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead, mentor, and manage diverse teams across transport, operations, and plant functions (Leadership training highly regarded)
  • Experience using fleet or asset management systems (e.g., Plant Assessor, GPS tracking)
  • Strong understanding of pre-start inspection procedures and equipment maintenance cycles
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislative, licensing, and maintenance standards
  • Capable of identifying issues early, evaluating options, and implementing effective solutions
  • Knowledge of WHSEQ legislation, risk management practices, and environmental obligations

Qualifications And Requirements

  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Civil Construction, Logistics or Fleet Management (or equivalent industry experience)
  • Mechanical trade or degree – Highly Regarded
  • Valid and Current WA Driver’s Licence – C Class Preferred
  • White Card/ Construction Induction Card
  • High Risk Work Licence (Desirable)
  • Unrestricted Australian working rights (sponsorship not available)
  • Must be able to work in Cardup office – Monday to Friday
