RSM Cyber and Data Protection – Data Protection Engineer
To address the most critical needs of our clients, the RSM US LLP Cyber and Data Protection group, comprised of more than 350 professionals, is looking to further expand our growing team. This group includes experienced consultants located throughout the world dedicated to helping clients with preventing, detecting, responding, and recovering to cyber threats that may affect their critical systems and data. We serve a diverse client base within a variety of industries, and we are relied upon to provide expertise within areas of cyber testing, data security, architecture, governance and compliance, digital forensics, and transformation.
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Cyber Transformation team as Data Protection engineer focused on future-ready technology enablement. This role requires a strategic thinker who can bridge business goals with technical execution, ensuring seamless integration across the entire data landscape. You will be an integral part of a team that works to develop high-quality Data Protection cybersecurity solutions for client’s environments on-premises and cloud hosted. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for client engagement and relationship management while overseeing execution of Data Protection centric projects to drive data governance, strategy, and product implementation across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of client goals.
Responsibilities:
- Build strong partnerships and collaborate with stakeholders across multiple business units to ensure a robust, secure service posture from Data Protection governance to implementation across multiple products and services
- Support client initiatives for Data Protection requirements gathering based on business objectives and regulatory adherence (including privacy)
- Lead strategy and roadmap development to enable established requirements for Data Protection
- Recommend, prioritize, design, and monitor the implementation of various Data Protection solutions
- Educate, advise and influence decision-makers in the areas of Data Protection
- Serve as a security subject matter expert resource across multiple cybersecurity infrastructure domains and as a Trusted Advisor to stakeholders across the organization
- Stay abreast of technology and cyber trends and capabilities including Data Protection products, regulatory standards, and best practices for data management
- Provide support to and mentor more junior team members
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience in enabling Data Protection with technology within complex business environments
- Experience working across numerous Data Protection products to enable governance (e.g., classification and handling), access controls, and encryption at-rest and in-transit
- Configuration and enablement of data loss prevention across 5+ implementations
- Demonstrated expertise in designing the interoperability of multiple Data Protection technical solutions
- Establish real-time monitoring and alerting mechanisms to detect and respond to security incidents and anomalous data access or egress
- Knowledge of the intricacies related to various data requirements based on regulations
- Experience translating Data Protection challenges, capabilities, and mitigation techniques to an executive audience from a business risk perspective
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity domains
- Ability to work independently with minimum direction in a fast-paced environment as well as collaborate effectively while maintaining an "options before obstacles" mindset
- Proven success in cross training and managing a team of future architects
- Ability to think strategically and creatively

Preferred Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience in enabling Data Protection with technology within complex business environments
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CIPP/US, CIPP/E, SC-401)
- Hands-on experience with numerous Data Protection solutions (e.g., Purview, Varonis, Fortra) tools
- Familiarity with ethical AI practices, and compliance frameworks
- Experience automating tests for LLM evaluation scenarios within CI/CD workflow
- Proven experience security engineering of AI/ML solutions in complex environments, including production-grade system
- Experience working with and enabling adherence to privacy requirements

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
Compensation Range: $79,000 - $126,500Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
