How you will make an impact

The Executive Director, Intellectual Property Licensing, supports Halozyme’s ENHANZE® drug delivery technology franchise by working closely with the business development team responsible for licensing Halozyme’s intellectual property assets. Collaborate with business development team to review, negotiate, and enact new ENHANZE deals and oversee intellectual property licensing. They will also offer legal assistance for other Halozyme business development and pivotal initiatives, including assessing and acquiring new platform opportunities.

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Support team members in maintaining and managing successful relationships in current collaborations, including parties’ contract obligations and communications

  • Support and at times lead strategy and negotiation of new ENHANZE collaborations

  • Draft non-disclosure, research, license, and other agreements involving the use or ownership of intellectual property

  • Perform diligence and support in a variety of potential life science transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, or in-licenses of new platforms opportunities

  • Work with and advise management and business teams on leveraging Halozyme’s current patent portfolio and growth opportunities

  • Work closely with IP counsel for Halozyme that prosecute and maintain the IP portfolio

  • Advise technical and business stakeholders internally, and partner with external counsel on licensing, strategy, and potential IP or licensing litigation

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • J.D. degree or LL.M. degree from an ABA accredited law school, and admission to practice law in a jurisdiction in the U.S.

  • 10 years’ experience of law firm and/or in-house experience, with minimum of 4 years in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry (or equivalent combination of education/experience)

  • Demonstrated strategic transactions leadership experience; experience negotiating and drafting complex licensing and partnering agreements

  • Life sciences intellectual property law experience required

  • Excellent analytical and contract drafting skills

  • Strong written and oral communication, as well as requisite interpersonal skills to work in a highly functioning, collaborative environment

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic solutions

The most likely base pay range for this position is $240K- $352K per year. Several factors, such as experience, tenure, skills, and particular business needs, will determine an individual’s exact level of compensation. Base salary is only one element of employee compensation at Halozyme. Total compensation could include bonuses, sales incentives, and equity awards.
