The Senior Manager of Continuous Improvement for Distribution Operations builds a culture of continuous improvement from the ground up and takes the lead in transforming our North America operations through driving excellence across our supply chain network. You'll be the architect behind continuous improvement programs, steering initiatives from conception to execution, and showcasing the amazing progress, risks, and results to our operations leadership and key stakeholders.
Using Lean Six Sigma (LSS) methodologies, you'll lead a team focused on improving processes in the North America Branches (19). This includes identifying and quantifying opportunities, analyzing data and processes, managing a strategic project pipeline, implementing solutions and long-term controls, and establishing guidelines for P&L realization.
The Senior Manager will also provide operational business intelligence by uncovering continuous improvement possibilities within the Wismettac network that enhance productivity, safety, cost control, and quality:
• Designing, developing, and maintaining business intelligence tools.
• Facilitating executive-level strategic business reviews
• Educating branch leadership on how to use Lean Six Sigma tools.
• Providing advanced analytics to improve operations.
Essential Job Functions:
• Develop and implement a continuous improvement foundational strategy, including planning and preparing the company for a long-term Lean Six Sigma “belt” program.
• Build and lead a team of Business Process Consultants strategically placed throughout regions.
• Analyze operations to identify, quantify, and prioritize opportunities for improvement.
• Change Management is critical in everything we do. You will have to be able to pace the change and showcase exceptional change management methods.
• Lead national and regional process improvement projects from conception to completion.
• Proven ability to manage large-scale technology initiatives such as Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and Labor Management Systems (LMS) on time and on budget.
• Develop business cases by defining problems, establishing baselines, setting key performance indicators (KPIs), and assessing financial impact.
• Manage project lifecycles, including creating and maintaining timelines, selecting project teams, facilitating meetings, and providing periodic updates to leadership.
• Design and implement operational business intelligence tools and reports, and provide training for end-users through the control phase.
• Drive and manage the implementation of projects in assigned branches, ensuring results.
• Champion Improvement by embedding continuous improvement principles into the organization's strategic plan and goals.
• Facilitate Workout Sessions, Kaizen, LSS training, and strategic KPI summits with business leaders.
Experience/ Training/ Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Information Systems, or a similar field, desired
• Master's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Information Systems, or a similar field, preferred
• Lean Manufacturing, Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt (or Black Belt), and Project Management qualification(s) strongly desired
• Years in a Continuous Improvement leadership role, with a deep understanding of supply chain or distribution logistics operations.
• Warehouse or transportation management experience (including related ERP system) is desired
• Proficiency with advanced analytics and basic statistics required.
Knowledge/ Skills/ Ability:
• Leadership & Influence: Proven ability to lead projects, processes, and people. You should be able to motivate and inspire others, guide them toward common goals, and achieve results by influencing both your direct team and cross-functional colleagues.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for both formal and informal settings, including the ability to create and deliver impactful presentations.
• Data Analysis & Statistics: Strong proficiency in advanced data analysis and foundational statistics, with desired experience in statistical process control and hypothesis testing.
• Problem-Solving: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, combined with sound decision-making skills.
• Technical & Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are required. Experience with other data systems is a strong plus, including Oracle ERP, SQL, WMS, LMS, Minitab, and various project management software.
• Flexibility & Adaptability: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including varying shifts (some processes occur overnight) and weekends as needed. You must also be able to work in diverse warehouse climates, including non-climate-controlled dry goods, cooler, and freezer environments.
• Results-Oriented: A strong drive to achieve results, consistently meeting deadlines with high-quality output.
• Innovation: A demonstrated commitment to innovation and continuous improvement, with the ability to find creative solutions.
• Project Management: Excellent time management and planning skills to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

• Travel: Willingness to travel over 50% of the time.
Working conditions:
Senior Managers work in a comfortable office environment. They frequently work more than the standard 40 hours a week to ensure deadlines are met. Travel is necessary. May even travel outside the United States. Due to project or program responsibilities, you may be required to be on-call on an irregular work schedule, including weekends, early mornings, evenings, and holidays.
