Job Description

The Ohio Attorney General's Office is currently seeking a highly motivated, self-starting individual for a position as an IT Quality Assurance Specialist (Software Developer 3). The IT Quality Assurance Specialist will possess advanced testing knowledge of systems and applications, and can work independently to create, track, and monitor system test plans to ensure the software meets the defined requirements. The ideal candidate will also be able to track and monitor software defects, detect and provide supporting documentation for all pass and failed requirements. This position will work a hybrid in-person/remote schedule. There may be changes to this schedule based on training and operational needs. A reliable home internet connection will be required. The headquarter location is 30 E Broad St. Columbus, OH.

The successful candidate will perform the following duties which include, but are not limited to:

-Reviewing software requirements, user stories, and preparing test scenarios. 

-Designing and developing automation and manual testing scripts.

-Executing all testing levels (System, Integration, and Regression, etc.) to confirm software meets requirements.

-Detecting and tracking software defects and inconsistencies.

-Providing support documentation on defects and test results.

-Preparing reports on all aspects of the software testing carried out and reporting to the design team. -Interacting with clients and/or vendors to understand product requirements.

-Participating in design reviews and providing input on requirements, product design, and potential problems. -Providing timely solutions.

-Appling quality engineering principles throughout the Agile product lifecycle. -Running, managing, testing jobs and test calendars.

-Writing queries to pull data.

-Develop, implement, and maintain complex test automation scripts using automation tools.

-Develop test automation framework for projects requiring an in-depth knowledge of software functionality.

-Execute automated test scripts and evaluate results; assist with automation script maintenance.

-Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of QA practices/testing methodologies

-Establish automation and performance testing strategies and guidelines for projects.

-Drive continuous improvement in automation and performance test tools, coverage, and quality.

-Integrate automation and performance tests into CI/CD pipelines to ensure continuous testing efforts.

-Other duties as assigned

This position will focus on testing workflows, integration, and configuration of the Collections Software of the Attorney General’s Office. The candidates should have the ability to manage all aspects of the test planning and execution, including writing/running test scripts along with data queries

This position is in the State of Ohio’s E1 Pay Schedule, Pay Range 15. Unless required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range (step 1, currently $43.09 per hour). These ranges provide a standardized pathway for pay increases. With continued employment, new hires move to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Cost of Living Adjustments increase wages in these ranges each fiscal year.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

-Core undergraduate program in computer science, information systems, mathematics, or related field or equivalent work experience, AND a minimum of four years combined work experience in any combination of the following: designing and performing systems analysis, developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications, performing testing, debugging, and code review, and assisting with analysis and design, including 2 years technology related work experience. 

-Or 4 years exp. as a Software Developer 2; 
-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above. 

Preferred Qualifications:

-Strong leadership with a passion for software quality and continuous improvement. Proficiency and experience in programming languages. Experience with performance test tools such as LoadRunner, and other relevant tools. 2+ years demonstrated ability in performance testing and automation.
