Job Description
The Manager for Academic and Student Affairs performs the following duties and responsibilities:
1) preparation and execution of documents on issues within the competence of the School;
2) implementation of interaction and correspondence with students and academic staff of the School on issues within the competence of the School;
3) participation in the recruitment campaign to attract potential students in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan and abroad (presentations in the regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, international educational exhibitions);
4) participation in the organization of admission of students to doctoral School programs in the regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan and abroad;
5) monitoring students' compliance with the Code of Conduct, and assisting in the organization of work on the cultural and moral education of students, and promoting student solidarity;
6) involvement of students in the organization of public and student events held by the School, and assistance in organizational matters of these events;
7) implementation of information and explanatory work on educational services and student issues;
8) implementation of support and updating of the database of students of the School;
9) study and analysis of the experience of the student affairs departments of other higher educational institutions, making proposals for the implementation of best practices in order to improve the School's activities;
10) participation in the implementation of works on voluntary expulsion, compulsory expulsion and registration of academic leave of students and listeners of the School;
11) organization and conduct of the procedure for signing contracts for the provision of educational services;
12) implementation of joint activities with other departments of the University to improve student life;
13) assistance in organizing Orientation Week for School students;
14) implementation of work on interaction with parents of students of the School;
15) preparation of analytical materials, presentations, information on individual tasks, instructions of the line manager within the competence of the School;
16) participation in the processes of identification, assessment, management, monitoring of risks within the supervised direction;
17) performs duties (replaces) of the Senior Manager for Academic and Student Affairs or Manager for Academic and Student Affairs of the School during his/her temporary absence (for up to one month).
18) timely and properly executes the tasks of the line manager and the University management;
19) observes the requirements of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the internal documents of the University;
20) responsible for compliance with labor and service discipline;
21) responsible for ensuring the integrity of official documents, as well as preventing the disclosure or leakage of confidential and business information, as well as restricted access information in accordance with the legislation, the Charter and internal documents of the Employer;
22) in case of dismissal, responsible for the timely transfer of all paper documentation, digital information, inventory to another employee at the direction of the line manager (according to the act of acceptance and transfer).
Qualifications
Education
- Higher professional education, preferably in higher educational institutions with English language of instruction;
- Preferred fields of study:
- Management of the educational process
- Pedagogy
- Management
- Business administration
- Psychology
- Related fields within the humanities.
Work Experience
- At least three (3) years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree/Specialist;
- At least one (1) year of experience with a Master’s degree in a relevant field.
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of education;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
- Coaching and mentoring skills;
- Experience in educational work and student affairs;
- Critical thinking abilities;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Leadership qualities;
- Ability to work effectively in a team;
- Fluency in English, Kazakh, and Russian.
