At Meta Reality Labs Research, our world-class team of researchers, developers, and designers collaborate to create innovative user experiences with contextual AI. As a Research Intern, you will investigate how people and AI agents interact through various interfaces and develop groundbreaking sensing technologies, interactions, and interfaces for augmented reality glasses and wearable devices. Our mission is to invent user interface technologies that drive the next generation of augmented-reality experiences, unleashing human potential by removing barriers between intent and action.

$7,650/month to $12,134/month + benefits
Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. - Plan and execute cutting-edge research to advance human-computer interaction research.
- Collaborate with dynamic teams of engineers, designers, and researchers.
- Organize and lead research activities such as designing and building prototypes, algorithm development, experimental design, data collection, and analysis.
- Write and publish high-quality scientific articles.
- Communicate research activities and findings to collaborators across various disciplines.
- Take big problems and deliver clear, compelling, and creative proposals for how to solve them at scale.
- Produce publishable research in top-tier journals or at leading international conferences.
- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Human-AI Interaction, AI/ML, Human-Robot Interaction, or relevant technical field
- 3+ years of research experience in HCI, AI or related fields, as shown in prior publications and portfolio
- 3+ years of experience with programming languages such as Python, C++, C#, Matlab, Python, Javascript, or similar languages
- 1+ years of experience in experimental design of user studies and statistical analysis to interpret results
- Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
- Familiarity with the HCI field and AR/VR technologies and literature
- Proven track record of achieving research results and innovation as demonstrated by minimum 2 patents or first-authored peer-reviewed publications in relevant venues such as ACM CHI, ACM UIST, ACM IMWUT, IEEE ISMAR or IEEE VR
- Expertise in techniques like circuit design, signal processing, model training, LLMs, Prompt Engineering, and related techniques
- Familiarity with machine learning libraries such as PyTorch or TensorFlow and/or development environments like Unity
- Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment
- Intent to return to degree program after the completion of the internship/co-op
