Responsible for supporting the team’s effort to provide an independent perspective in underwriting and managing Wholesale Banking loans and relationships. Partners with Relationship Managers, Credit Portfolio Managers, and the Credit Portfolio Management Team Leader in delivering credit solutions through: portfolio management, underwriting, and deal team management. This position is ideal for a teammate with a strong desire to learn more about the commercial line of business, lending and portfolio management.
Position Accountabilities
- Achieve mastery of fundamental lending concepts via self-study and classroom training opportunities.
- Support the team in proactively monitoring performance and trends, ensuring risk rating integrity, ensuring timely compliance with all covenants, identifying issues and following through for remediation, and assisting with compliance and regulatory reviews.
- Assist with collection and analysis of tax returns, personal financial statements, rent rolls, and other underwriting items.
- Support the independent underwriting process for new and renewal opportunities for clients and prospects.
- Participate in special projects to aid with the continuous improvement of portfolio management.
- May participate with Relationship Manager on client calls for financial questions, deal information, collection of financial statements, and other portfolio management requirements.
- Adhere to all applicable laws and regulations governing bank operations, including compliance with Atlantic Union Bankshares’ BSA/AML Policy and Procedures.
- Prioritize deliverables and coordinate as appropriate with other Credit Portfolio Managers, Relationship Managers, Credit Risk, Treasury Management, and other internal and external stakeholders.
Organizational Relationship
This position reports to the Team Leader - Credit Portfolio Management.
Position Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field
- Three or more years of experience in a banking or financial services environment
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of financial institution concepts, practices and regulations
- Familiarity with and/or willingness to learn how to interpret financial statements, tax returns and cash flow analysis
- Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills necessary to provide detailed information and courteous responses to teammates and customers
- Intermediate computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and loan scoring applications
- Proven analytical and problem solving skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
Salary offered will be based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. This position is also eligible to participate in either an applicable incentive compensation plan for the position or a discretionary profit sharing bonus program.
