Job Description

The New York City Department of Transportation provides for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods in the City of New York and maintains and enhances the transportation infrastructure crucial to the economic vitality and quality of life of City residents. Job Description: Selected candidate will serve as a Investigator for the Security unit within the Facilities Management Division at the Department of Transportation. Under administrative direction, with latitude to exercise independent initiative and judgment, the selected candidate performs the following:

Surveillances
Interrogates subjects and witnesses
Examines and analyzes employee records
Maintains case records, prepares reports
Analyzes agency records
Makes recommendations as to appropriate
action to be taken following investigation
Testifies at hearings, may be required to testify at court proceedings
May work in close coordination with City investigatory agencies
Analyzes and evaluates existing and proposed agency procedures
Conducts security surveys of agency operations and facilities
Develops security plans
Performs training in detection and control procedures to limit misconduct, and incompetency to other agency staff

Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
