Intern– Design Assurance Engineer – Colorado Springs, CO – Summer 2026

Are you interested in an Internship opportunity with Philips? We welcome individuals who are currently pursuing an undergraduate (BS) and/or graduate (MS) degree to participate in paid intern opportunities at our site in Colorado Springs. Through this role you will gain meaningful, hands-on experience working for a HealthTech company.

Your role:

  • Manage and execute laboratory studies to validate test methods and conduct design verification.
  • Translate technical data of legacy products into current Philips standards.
    • Perform detailed risk assessment of Philips products and drive required design mitigations to prevent adverse events.
  • Conducts research on relevant topics and areas as requested by the manager/supervisor by investigating current trends, industry best practices and competitive landscape to provide comprehensive insights and support the strategic direction of ongoing projects and initiatives.
    • Analyzes data related to departmental projects as requested by the manager/supervisor, identifying significant trends, patterns, and anomalies, and delivering actionable recommendations that drive data-informed decision-making.
  • Participates in team meetings, contributing innovative ideas and strategic input, while also capturing detailed minutes that accurately reflect discussions, decisions, and action items, ensuring effective communication and follow-up within the team.
    • Assists in preparation and presentation of reports or findings for internal and external stakeholders as required by manager/supervisor, ensuring that all findings are presented with utmost accuracy and clarity.
  • Organizes and maintains departmental documentation and files by systematically categorizing and filing records, reports, and other essential documents to ensure they are easily accessible and retrievable, thereby enhancing the department's operational efficiency and compliance with regulatory requirements. Maintains up to date knowledge of industry trends, developments, and best practices and learns technical skills related to industry, exhibiting a commercial and growth mindset.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, including FDA and ISO regulations.

  • You are currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in engineering or a technical field (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or other).
  • You should be eager to learn medical device industry standards and their application in new product development.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment is crucial. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions are necessary.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, along with being detail-oriented and organized, are also important for this role.
  • You must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this position.

How we work together

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.

Philips Transparency Details

The hourly pay range for this position is $25.00 to $28.00, plus overtime eligible. The actual base pay offered may vary within the posted ranges depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.

At Philips, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each case. 

Additional Information

US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa, now or in the future.

Company relocation benefits will not be provided for this position.  For this position, you must reside in or within commuting distance to Colorado Springs.
