Job Summary:

The Senior Editor, English Language Arts leads content development of ELA projects throughout their development and reports to the Editorial Director, ELA/Humanities on the status and productivity of assigned projects. The Senior Editor, English Language Arts collaborates with KGL design, production, and project management teams, as well as client teams.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Editorial Director to build and manage external editorial teams for assigned projects to ensure quality development and guarantee clients’ publishing goals are met
  • Collaborate with project managers to resolve editorial issues that affect workflow or schedule
  • Establish and complete QC processes to ensure completed work meets client expectations
  • Maintain content prototypes and templates that meet client specifications
  • Create and maintain editorial guidelines, prototypes, and editorial templates to ensure product consistency, including ongoing updates throughout the life of the project and
  • Ensure content compliance to standards as well as content accuracy
  • Participate in status meetings with clients, including progress reporting for scope of work
  • Monitor assigned editorial projects to proactively identify any risks and take action to ensure adherence to quality, schedule, and budget goals

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree minimum
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience of editorial development experience in K-12 ELA in a deadline-driven environment; cross-curricular experience a real plus
  • Expertise with state-specific and broader-market educational standards, including Common Core and other relevant frameworks and standards in the assigned discipline areas
  • Thorough understanding of pedagogy and learning/instruction dynamics, including contemporary trends in education such as Science of Reading-based literacy
  • Able to interact successfully with client contacts, especially on sensitive matters
  • Able to develop or interpret workflow and specification instructions effectively and efficiently
  • Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills
  • Able to lead, motivate, and work in an energetic, deadline-driven, and highly creative environment

 

Desired Skills and Abilities:

  • Candidates offering an advanced degree a major plus

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • Ability to remain stationary, typing and managing detailed work for long periods required.
  • Exceptional visual acuity with or without corrective lenses.
  • Ability to operate a computer.
  • Ability to handle very detailed work for extended periods of time.
