About the opportunity

The Northern Clinical School, within the Sydney Medical School, Faculty of Medicine and Health, is currently seeking a Senior Lecturer in Oncology to undertake teaching and learning activities, research and other scholarly activity aligned with their clinical appointment. 

As a Senior Lecturer, you will be clinically active as an oncologist with an appointment at the Royal North Shore Hospital. You will contribute to teaching and learning practice, course design and evaluation as well as building your research contribution within the discipline.  


Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • contribute to the delivery of the teaching program in oncology including educational innovation, curriculum design and assessment.

  • participate in research and scholarly activities

  • contribute to a positive workplace culture in which diversity of thought, contribution, collaboration, excellence and achieving outcomes are valued and enabled

  • understand and contribute to furthering the university and faculty strategic agenda

  • undertake other duties appropriate within the classification level as required


About you

  • doctorate or PhD in a relevant field, providing a strong academic foundation to contribute meaningfully to teaching, research, and curriculum development

  • FRACP or equivalent qualification and AHPRA registration as a medical practitioner

  • clinical appointment as a medical oncologist at Royal North Shore Hospital

  • a developing network of relationships with key academic, industry and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders, supporting collaboration and enhancing the impact of educational initiatives

  • demonstrated success in designing, implementing and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives, showing a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement in education

  • demonstrated understanding of the subject-matter within the discipline, ensuring depth of knowledge and the ability to deliver high-quality, relevant learning experiences

  • experience in supervising or mentoring others, contributing to the development of students and colleagues and fostering a supportive academic environment

  • experience in teaching and learning, as evidenced by participation in team teaching and teaching in a variety of settings, demonstrating adaptability and a collaborative approach

  • ability to communicate effectively, enabling clear and engaging interactions with students, colleagues, and external stakeholders

  • planning and organisation, supporting the efficient delivery of teaching, research, and administrative responsibilities

  • research, contributing to the advancement of knowledge and informing evidence-based teaching practices
