What This Job Involves:
As a Site Engineering Manager at JLL Work Dynamics in Tokyo-Meguro, you will provide outstanding engineering services by proactively leading, monitoring, and managing onsite client account activities for a prestigious American multinational technology company focused on e-commerce, cloud computing, digital streaming, and artificial intelligence. This senior leadership role combines technical engineering expertise with team management responsibilities, requiring you to manage direct and indirect reports while serving as a subject matter expert in general building engineering services and maintaining service delivery excellence according to established SLAs. You will play a crucial role in JLL's commitment to delivering exceptional facilities management services by developing Standard Operating Procedures, providing emergency response support, driving global engineering initiatives as Japan POC, and creating an inclusive workplace environment that celebrates authenticity as a strength.
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Manage direct and indirect staff in performance of onsite engineering services while ensuring service delivery accordance with SLA between JLL and client
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for engineering services and critical environments while providing technical training and quality control to local teams
- Provide emergency and non-emergency response support for engineering incidents including reporting, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution
- Drive and lead global/regional engineering initiatives and programs as Japan POC while coordinating with JLL Operations personnel as necessary
- Implement regional standards for engineering operations incorporating client, JLL, and local statutory requirements while managing PPM programs
- Manage engineering-related budgets while implementing innovation programs that reduce costs and increase productivity
- Support JLL Energy and Sustainability Service strategies to achieve measurable improvements in energy consumption
- Complete client engineering-related project works including coordination with contractors and vendors while providing 24/7 emergency support
Required Qualifications:
- University degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or related engineering discipline
- 8+ years of experience in facilities management, critical engineering, and/or building services
- Excellent people skills with ability to interact with wide range of client and vendor staff
- Experience in continuous improvement initiatives, client communication, and technical reports
- Confident communication skills with good presentation abilities
- Self-motivated, confident, and energetic approach with goal-oriented focus
- Ability to work across multiple matrix reporting environments while prioritizing activities
- Team player with ability to cooperate and work well with others to meet targets
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional qualification such as PE (USA), CEng (UK), or local equivalent
- Experience with Certified Energy Manager (CEM) programs
- Background in critical environments and data center operations
- Knowledge of Japanese statutory requirements and local engineering standards
- Familiarity with multinational technology company environments
- Experience with vendor management and service contract oversight
- Understanding of energy and sustainability strategies in corporate environments
- Background in emergency response and business continuity planning
