Luxembourg Head of Legal

This role is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing all legal matters across the Luxembourg campus of the Apex Group. The role will involve managing all legal matters across Luxembourg and will cover several product lines including fund administration, management company and depository. In this role you will benefit from working alongside experienced legal and financial services professionals who champion development and continuous learning. The role will report into the Apex Group Head of Legal for Europe with a separate reporting line into the Luxembourg Management Team.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the Luxembourg Legal Team and support strategic projects in particular integrating and aligning the Luxembourg Legal Team with the wider Apex Group Legal Team.
• Provide commercial and strategic legal advice to internal stakeholders in Luxembourg on a range of legal activities whilst developing key relationships with colleagues across the wider Apex Group.
• Identification, management and mitigation of legal risk, providing proactive and pragmatic solutions to business colleagues.
• Draft, review and negotiate various corporate documentation and client service agreements and acting as an escalation point for strategic client negotiations.
• Collaboration with external counsel in a cost-effective manner in respect of obtaining legal advice. Interpretation and communication of such advice to business colleagues in a commercial and strategic manner, including challenging such advice where appropriate.
• Participate in board and management committee meetings where necessary.
   

Qualifications and Experience

• Admission to practice law in a civil or common law jurisdiction.
• A collaborative, commercial and pragmatic financial services lawyer with experience within either fund administration, manco or banking.
• Significant PQE or equivalent experience gained in a leading law firm and/or in-house with a particular focus on EU legal and regulatory matters.
• Be proactive and pragmatic, taking ownership of and accountability for the provision of commercial solutions to relevant legal issues.
• Proven leadership experience in a senior legal role including excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
