We sat down with the People Leader (who you would report to) and they told us the following about the role: 

Markets & Payments Operations (MPO) for short, are the human payments engine for BNZ. We support all payments activity from the top end of town, corporate and institutional markets settlements right down to the processing of automatic payments and direct debits for personal customers. Including account reconciliations, payment/break investigation and customer maintenance. 
 

What are 5 day to day tasks the person in this role will complete? 

• Processing of Securities, Money Market and High Value NZD Payments 
• Processing of International & FX Payments 
• Processing of Domestic Payments 
• Account reconciliation and payment investigation 
• Processing of customer maintenance requests 
• What is the team culture and environment like? 

Markets & Payments Operations have a vision to be the best operations business unit at BNZ. We work together to deliver for customers and colleagues and want to be a magnet for talent. We also love a morning tea! 

What technical skills are REQUIRED for this role? 

We will teach you what you need to know about payments (we know it all!). But we are looking for candidates with great digital/IT skills and the ability to problem solve. 

What will success look like for the candidate in this role? 

It might sound counterintuitive, but success will look like you not being here in five year’s time. We want to attract the best talent at the beginning of their banking careers, support them as they develop their skills and knowledge and then go on to their next role as an advocate for Operations and the role we play.  

What attributes will this person display in order to be successful in this role? 

Motivated, curious and sociable. 

This role will be based in Wellington. It is a hybrid role with three days in the office and two days where you can work flexibly.
