Lead Developer, Enterprise Data Warehouse Platform (Helsinki/Oulu)

OP Financial Group

Office

Helsinki, FI

Full Time

We are looking for a Lead Developer to join our Enterprise Data Warehouse Platform team and play a key role in OP Financial Group’s data platform transformation. This is a hands-on and strategic role where you will both build and lead, modernizing our data infrastructure with Azure-native services and ensuring scalable, secure, and future-proof solutions.

By joining us, you will become part of the OP Financial Group's Development and Technology organization. Our organization develops digital services and systems for our customers and our own staff. We are responsible for OP's ICT strategy, technology guidelines, architecture, common platforms, infrastructure, and the OP Group's cybersecurity. The Development and Technology area employs a total of 5,000 IT professionals from both our own team and our partners.

What is this role about?

As Lead Developer, you will drive the evolution of our data warehousing platform as part of OP’s wider data architecture transformation. You will work closely with the Product Owner, Enterprise Architects, and the Data Tribe’s Tech Lead to ensure compliance with architectural principles while shaping technical direction.

Your key responsibilities in a nutshell:

  • Leading the re-engineering of EDW components using Azure-native services (e.g. Azure Container Apps, Azure Functions)
  • Driving automation and CI/CD practices with GitHub Actions, Terraform, and supporting DevOps tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Overseeing the API lifecycle (design, documentation, governance) with Swagger, Apigee, and Azure API Management
  • Evaluating current test automation frameworks (e.g. Robot Framework) and guiding the transition to modern solutions such as PyTest
  • Supporting the transformation of the platform towards a data product–based approach
  • Ensuring robust packaging, release auditing, and artifact management with Artifactory
  • Providing technical direction in containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Collaborating proactively with stakeholders to align OP’s practices with enterprise standards
  • Promoting data quality and governance through tools like Collibra and Soda
  • Mentoring team members and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement

This opportunity is available in Helsinki or Oulu, depending on your preference. Like the rest of OP, we work flexibly, combining office days with remote work.

What kind of skills and experience are we looking for?

We are seeking someone with both strong technical expertise and leadership skills. To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • Proven experience in Azure cloud architecture and services
  • Strong proficiency in Python, particularly for automation and scripting
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform, GitHub, and GitHub Actions
  • Solid knowledge of data warehousing, DBT, ETL, and data integration patterns, including practices that ensure high-quality data transformation and modeling
  • Some experience in API design and management (Swagger, Apigee)
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices (Jira, Confluence)
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience in release management, packaging, and auditing processes
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Collibra and Soda for data governance and monitoring
  • Exposure to Robot Framework and migration to modern testing frameworks
  • Understanding of BCBS239 regulatory requirements in data environments
