About the Role

We are seeking an Assistant General Counsel to provide strategic legal guidance within a fast-paced, mission-driven organization. In this role, you will work closely with the legal and compliance teams to advise on a wide range of legal matters, including employment-related issues, regulatory compliance, litigation, risk management, and M&A activities. You will manage an enterprise litigation docket, engage outside counsel, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures.

This position is ideal for a legal professional with strong employment law expertise, relationship-building skills, and the ability to navigate complex legal and regulatory landscapes. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Legal Affairs, you will play a pivotal role in guiding Pinnacle Fertility through key legal challenges, ultimately contributing to the organization’s success.

This is a full-time, onsite position based at Pinnacle Fertility’s headquarters in Scottsdale, Arizona. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage an enterprise litigation docket across diverse practice areas independently.
  • Oversee discovery, settlement, and both pre-litigation and litigation processes with a proactive attitude and detailed case management reporting.
  • Engage and manage outside counsel throughout all phases of litigation ensuring smooth and efficient case progression to effectively represent the enterprise.
  • Partner with IT members to appropriately respond to discovery in a timely manner.
  • Maintain effective and timely communication with insurance adjusters, medical providers, and business units regarding litigation matters, handling inquiries and updates with precision.
  • Utilize organizational skills and proactive approach to manage and report on deadlines, case details, budgets, and the discovery process in an effective manner.
  • Collaborate with management and network fertility clinics on a variety of legal matters ensuring stakeholders are informed and supported throughout the legal process.
  • Support, as directed and guided by the General Counsel, M&A activities, including due diligence, documentation, and post-transaction integration.
  • Partner with attorneys, compliance teammates, and clinical staff to identify and resolve legal issues as requested.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders.

Position Requirements

Education & Licensure:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • License to practice law in the state of Arizona preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 years of employment litigation experience, in-house or at a leading law firm.
  • Multi-state experience preferred (especially AZ, CA, WA, OR, IL, OH, NY, VA, GA).
  • In-house experience a plus.

Skills:

  • Strong background in litigation and insurance matters.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to articulate and report on case development and strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills with sharp attention to detail.
  • Effective conflict resolution abilities.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Strategic thinker comfortable working in fast-paced, complex environments.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with flexibility to contribute across functions.

Compensation

Salary Range: $140,000 – $180,000 annually. Final offers will be determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
