As a People & Culture Business Partner, you’ll serve as a trusted advisor to leaders, supporting a wide range of people and culture needs across your client group. You’ll partner with managers to strengthen leadership capability, navigate complex employee matters and translate feedback into meaningful action, ensuring that growth and learning are embedded in day-to-day work.
In addition to your generalist responsibilities, you’ll bring expertise in compensation as part of this portfolio within the P&C team. This includes analyzing pay practices, advising on salary recommendations, and advancing equitable and transparent pay decisions that support attraction, retention and employee trust.
By balancing empathy with impact, you’ll help leaders address performance challenges, embed values-based practices into everyday operations and align people programs to drive both employee and organizational success.
This position works 37.5 hours per week and is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. While primarily based at our Hub location, occasional travel may be required.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Serve as the primary P&C contact for a designated group of departments
- Advise leaders and team members on employee relations, policy interpretation and performance coaching
- Manage the full team member lifecycle, including onboarding, transitions and offboarding
- Support day-to-day P&C operations, including system updates, reporting and administrative tasks
- Guide leaders through coaching conversations, feedback cycles and informal check-ins to strengthen accountability and development
- Support the full lifecycle of the performance process, including goal setting, reviews and performance improvement plans
- Collaborate with the Director, People & Culture to support organization-wide talent programs such as engagement, succession planning and recognition
- Provide first-line support on employee relations matters and advise leaders on progressive discipline, accommodations, return-to-work planning, and policy interpretation to ensure consistency, fairness, and early resolution
- Advise leaders on compensation practices, including salary placement, pay equity and internal alignment
- Support the design, analysis, and administration of salary structures, pay bands and compensation programs
- Conduct market research and benchmarking to ensure competitiveness within the non-profit sector and broader labor market
- Promote and support pay transparency practices, ensuring alignment with organizational values and equity commitments
- Provide guidance on job evaluations/salary bands, role leveling and the development of compensation tools and resources
- Collaborate with the P&C team to integrate compensation considerations into talent attraction, retention and recognition strategies
- Foster and contribute to a culture of inclusion and equity in a diverse work environment; understand and recognize that individual differences significantly contribute to YW Calgary’s success
- Understand YW Calgary’s Health, Safety and Wellness (HS&W) policies, practices and protocols; ensure work is performed safely and in alignment with YW’s HS&W culture
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
- Degree, diploma, and/or a certificate in Human Resources, or other post-secondary education combined with relevant HR experience will be considered
- Minimum 5-7 years of progressive HR experience
- Experience working in a generalist HR capacity, supporting a large portfolio and/or business unit
- Familiarity with HRIS platforms (UKG preferred) and learning/performance systems
- Strong knowledge of compensation practices, including pay structures, pay equity and transparency principles
- CPHR and CCP designation or working towards it is considered an asset
