Description
The Safety & Compliance Specialist is responsible for administering all OSHA, DOT, Fleet Management programs, 49CFR and FDA regulations. Maintains records and performs heavy data entry into the various systems. Creates, implements and administers safety training programs. Conducts all accident investigations and claim filing processes. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Oversee compliance in all areas of regulatory changes and updates, providing support and expertise to all locations within the operation.
- Manage corporate safety programs.
- Conduct accident investigations.
- Monitor and record all DOT recordable accidents as required by DOT and OSHA regulations.
- Record all other accidents for fleet safety performance. Prepare summary reports.
- Record keeping of all forms and SOPs including OSHA 300 logs.
- Log DOT/Safety metric reports.
- Manage recordkeeping/safety audits for DOT/FDA/OSHA.
- Report and monitor vehicle and property insurance claims for drivers.
- Maintain document control (data entry and scanning of documents).
- Manage hiring process for drivers:
- Perform 30-day safety history records requests.
- Review documents submitting for DOT hiring process.
- Manage DOT and Random drug and alcohol testing program.
- Track and monitor log books.
- Maintain DOT driver qualification files.
- Monitor Hour of Service regulations.
- Maintain fleet vehicle files for updates to fleet changes.
- Keep maintenance records for fleet operation.
- Coordinate all licensing/permits and compliance of fleet operation.
- Assist with All FDA regulations.
- Backup in maintaining security systems.
- Back-up Corporate Compliance and Safety Manager.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- In-depth knowledge of DOT/OSHA compliance regulations.
- FDA knowledge a plus.
- Works independently.
- Skill in handling multiple priorities and meeting critical deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, Visio and Word.
- Quality focus
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively in a cross-functional team capacity.
- Strong verbal/written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
- 2-4 years’ related experience in Safety, DOT/OSHA compliance.
- DOT knowledge and/or experience required.
- 49CFR training a plus.
- 30-hour OSHA Training Course a plus.
