Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Systems Engineer to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in maintaining and improving our IT infrastructure by focusing on system patching, onboarding, offboarding, and account access management. Key Responsibilities
System Patching
- Monitor and manage system patching schedules for servers, workstations, and applications.
- Assess, test, and deploy software updates, patches, and security fixes to ensure systems remain secure and up-to-date.
- Troubleshoot and resolve patch-related issues in coordination with other IT teams.
- Maintain detailed records of patch management activities and generate reports for compliance purposes.
Onboarding & Offboarding
- Collaborate with HR and hiring managers to provision new employees with appropriate hardware, software, and access permissions.
- Ensure departing employees are properly offboarded, including disabling accounts and retrieving company-owned assets.
- Maintain and refine onboarding/offboarding workflows to improve efficiency and compliance.
Account Access Management
- Create, modify, and deactivate user accounts across various systems and applications.
- Enforce access control policies to ensure users have appropriate levels of access based on their roles.
- Conduct regular audits of account access to identify and address security risks.
- Respond to account access requests and resolve related technical issues promptly.
General It Support
- Assist with troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues as needed.
- Document processes, configurations, and solutions in internal knowledge bases.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices to improve system reliability and security.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 1-2 years of experience in a technical support or systems engineering role.
- Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux) and patch management tools.
- Basic understanding of Active Directory, group policies, and user access management.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Commitment to maintaining data security and confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with patching tools (e.g., SCCM, WSUS, or similar).
- Knowledge of IT service management (ITSM) frameworks such as ITIL.
- Familiarity with identity and access management (IAM) solutions.
- Basic scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for process automation.
