CT Tech - Per Diem
Shift: Variable, 12 hour shifts
Per Diem requires 1 shift per week/4 shifts per month. - WEEKEND AVAILABILITY REQUIRED
Job Description:
PATIENT POPULATION:
The patient population served can be all patients, including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Admin Director of Imaging and Physical Therapy, Director of Radiology, and in consultation with the Medical Director, the Computerized Axial Tomography Technologist performs professional duties involved in a variety of Computerized Axial Tomography exams. Responsible for patient care, comfort and completion of required procedures. Is responsible for the assessment, treatment or care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient’s needs. Possesses knowledge of growth and development and has an understanding of the range of treatment needed for all patient groups. Responsible for safe radiation protection practices. On call responsibilities may be required. May be assigned to work in other Imaging modalities. Must follow AIDET and accepts reassignments and additional duties, when necessary, in a flexible and positive manner. Must maintain the department in compliance with rules and regulations set forth by governing agencies. Must maintain an environment of cohesiveness and teamwork.
Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a minimum of one (1) year C.T. experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence if required.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages if required.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have and maintain:
1. Current California licensure in Radiologic Technology and Fluoroscopy.
2. Must have ARRT (Radiology) certification or obtain within 6 months of hire, (ARRT certification in C.T. preferred)
3. Must have and maintain current BLS certification or obtain within the orientation process, prior to hands-on patient care.
4. Must have and maintain IV certification or obtain within six (6) months of the hire date."
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
*Indicates Essential Function
1 * Operates C.T. scanner, selecting proper technical factors for each exam. Maintaining high image quality. Is capable of recognizing a diagnostically acceptable exam and consistently producing C.T. scans of the same quality.
2 * Assists Radiologist and R.N. during invasive procedures.
3 * Performs venipuncture procedures for the purpose of contrast administration under supervision of attending Radiologist.
4 * Operates automatic contrast injector, selecting proper flow rates and volumes for exam being performed.
5 Keeps work area clean and orderly. Reports and documents equipment malfunctions to Supervisor.
6 Inventories supplies and notifies Supervisor of any needs or supply inventory concerns.
7 Assists in cross training of new employees in C.T.
8 Assists with different procedures in various department areas as trained and/or requested.
9 * Demonstrates ability to deviate from normal procedure and improve techniques for obtaining diagnostic exams in emergencies and unusual situations.
10 Attends department and staff meetings and/or in-service programs on a regular basis.
11 Follows AIDET
12 Accepts reassignments and additional duties, when necessary, in a flexible and positive manner.
13 Enters all required information into notes section of PACS system. Verifies all images and required notes are present before exam is sent for interpretation.
14 Notifies on radiologist of exams requiring STAT readings during and after normal business hours. Sends exams requiring Teleradiology reads in a timely manner to Teleradiology Company. Scan returned reports into Teleradiology system.
