Job Description

Position Purpose:

Essential job responsibility is to manage repack operations in the hazardous waste storage building. This individual is responsible for packaging and manifesting lab pack containers, updating inventory system information data for accuracy and forecasting purposes, and establishing methods and procedures to efficiently and effectively track movements of waste materials within the site and off site for disposal. Additionally, this individual is responsible for managing the cylinder inventory.  This individual is responsible for decommissioning and processing inert cylinders, and completing documentation and inspections for cylinder shipments.

Primary Duties /Responsibilities: 

  • Track and update data base of drum locations from receiving to processing to maintain an appropriate distribution and flow of materials.
  • Oversee repack program to determine accuracy of waste contents and ensure efficiency of process as well as determining appropriate documentation prior to disposal.
  • Coordinate waste shipments off site including scheduling at facilities.
  • Manage the cylinder inventory. 
  • Maintain reports to determine cost efficiency for repack program.
  • Comply and enforce all compliance, health, safety, and procedures in accordance with VES-TS policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education / Experience / Background: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • BS or BA in a science or related discipline preferred.
  • 1 - 2 years of hazardous waste experience preferred.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: 

  • Strong team player
  • Computer proficiency (i.e. VES-TS Field System, AS-400, Microsoft Suite, TS@Work etc.)
  • Ability to operate forklift
  • Time management: the ability to organize and manage multiple deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Required Certification / Licenses / Training: 

  • 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification
