What is the opportunity?

The Director of Physical Network Planning is a senior leadership role responsible for developing and executing RBC's physical distribution strategy, overseeing network planning, real estate portfolio management, and location strategies to drive growth, efficiency, and business continuity. This role involves leading a team, providing strategic insight, and engaging with senior leaders and stakeholders to inform decisions and optimize market coverage, manage risk, and ensure business continuity. Key responsibilities include market optimization, real estate lease portfolio management, and developing multi-year strategies to support distribution transformation and long-term business objectives.

What will you do?

  • Lead a senior team to develop and implement a forward-looking distribution strategy that transforms and optimizes our network and market coverage.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of multi-year market strategies that align with market trends, customer needs, and long-term investment goals.
  • Oversee the planning of openings, closures, and relocations to optimize coverage, efficiency, and growth, using a data-driven approach to select optimal locations and assess market conditions.
  • Responsible for managing the real estate lease portfolio, including strategic lease reviews, renewals, and maintaining a pipeline of ongoing project.
  • Assist in the creation of business cases to support effective and cost-effective decision making
  • Develop and deliver presentations to executive audiences that effectively communicate key strategies, initiatives, and financial impacts.
  • Assess and optimize existing processes to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and overall performance".
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders across the organization, including Personal and Commercial banking, real estate, and external partners" 
  • Foster a culture of high performance, inclusivity, and continuous learning within the team, promoting growth and development opportunities for all members".

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • Previous National Office experience: A strong background in Personal and Commercial banking, knowledge of distribution strategy, and portfolio management.
  • Strategic Leadership: The ability to set a long-term vision, drive transformation, and lead a senior team 
  • Real Estate Strategy & Distribution Planning:  Developing and implementing comprehensive distribution strategies to maximize market coverage is a critical component of this role
  • Stakeholder & Relationship Management: Proven experience in influencing, collaborating, and gaining buy-in across businesses, senior and executive leadership is necessary.
  • Advanced Analytics and Problem-Solving: The ability to deliver results through data-driven decision-making, assess complex trade-offs, and prioritize initiatives is required.
  • Financial and Business Acumen: Strong understanding of financial metrics and performance indicators, ability to develop and manage budgets, and make informed decisions based on financial and business data
  • Communication & Executive Presence: Strong verbal and written skills, with the ability to present and influence at executive levels, are essential.
  • People Leadership: The ability to inspire, coach, and develop high-performing teams while fostering inclusivity and achieving ambitious goals is required

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with financial modeling and analysis, including experience with financial metrics and performance indicators
  • Experience with organizational transformation
