As a Co-Op, Quantitative Developer, this individual will assist in the development of the Investment Risk Analytics & Oversight Platform to measure portfolio investment risk profiles across Fidelity alternative investment funds. This individual will work closely with the Head of Investment Risk and the VP members of the investment risk team, compliance leaders, the Common Risk Platform, data office, AM Tech, and Advanced Process Solutions team.
This role will assist in building a comprehensive Risk reporting suite of dashboards to enable our Investment Risk Analysts to independently monitor investment risk and engage across Fidelity with CIOs, compliance & Portfolio Management teams. These responsibilities will include developing and enhancing several 18F4 risk reporting processes, derivative exposure measurement, leverage risk reporting, managing the VaR Backtesting processes and analytics, and working with Risk Managers to implement sound investment risk models across all Alternative investment products.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and maintaining risk dashboards used to monitor investment risks within one or more of our alternative investment portfolios.
- Collaborate with the Investment Risk Management team to gather requirements and contribute to the development and enhancement of quantitative risk measurement processes.
- Support the analysis of derivative exposures, leverage risk, and help manage VaR (Value at Risk) backtesting processes.
- Work with data analytics tools to help generate insights and support decision-making processes.
- Collaborate with various teams across the organization, such as the data office and technical support teams, to support the implementation of investment risk models.
- Present findings and support the communication of complex quantitative analyses to team members and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Master's program in a relevant field (Financial Mathematics, Financial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science or related disciplines).
- Strong technical and quantitative skills, with experience or coursework in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL.
- Basic understanding of investment risk management, financial products, and portfolio management is preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Eager to learn and possess a proactive, can-do attitude towards tackling challenges and contributing to projects.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
