The SVP, Head of Investment Risk and Reporting is a senior leader responsible for the vision and execution of investment risk framework, valuation, compliance, and reporting for our global asset management function, supported by multiple teams. This role requires a strong leader and communicator, experienced in turning vision into execution, committed to integrity in frameworks, processes, data, and analytical modeling. This role reports directly to the EVP, Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and is a member of the Investment Leadership Team. This leader provides independence, proper governance, and ensures timely objective analysis to inform and improve investment decision making, performance feedback, and analytics that enable our high-performing investment team. The integrity of our data and reporting is critical, as our data and reporting support public and regulatory reporting, in addition to internal stakeholders and external investors. Given the nature of the risk responsibilities (“second line”) this leader is a key liaison to the Enterprise Risk Management function (dotted line reporting), and is responsible for ensuring timely, accurate information goes to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) for risk awareness, evaluation, and reporting. This leader sits on the Market and Credit Risk Committee and has oversight of the Asset Valuation Committee (Chairs or designates risk team member as Chair, subject to Controller and CIO approval).
Responsibilities:
- Risk governance framework development and maintenance for Investments aligned with enterprise objectives, strategy, risk framework, and risk appetite.
- Provide leadership with respect to topics pertaining to risk management, global regulatory trends and emerging risks. Be a strategic advisor to CIO on risk related issues within investments. Provide an independent risk perspective on investment strategies and new initiatives, engaging with investment teams for timely assessments and potential actions. Stay informed on industry trends and factors impacting portfolios, proactively sharing insights with investment leaders and ERM. Works closely with SVP, Global Head of Credit regarding credit risk and risk reporting, including sustainability
- Identify and quantify risks. Oversee quant team and enhancement of impact and timeliness of quantitative modeling and analysis. Monitor portfolios for risks and ensure accuracy of analytics, including scenario analysis to assess impacts of economic and market events on assets and for integrated asset-liability analysis
- Accountable for effective compliance team and processes to ensure compliance with policy and regulatory limits, incident capture, and tracking of timely remediation actions.
- Risk and Performance Reporting. Develop and deliver accurate and insightful risk and performance reports to senior leaders and to stakeholders such as committees, board, business partners and clients. Develop custom index approach and process. Advance performance tracking and attribution.
- Supports and as needed, engages in external stakeholder meetings as needed (e.g. regulators, rating agencies, investors, clients)
- Leadership and Collaboration. Lead, mentor, and develop investment risk, analytics, compliance and reporting talent. Build strong relationships with key stakeholders in investments, enterprise risk, and across the firm. Utilize external networks and learning opportunities. Collaborate to advance and innovate our capabilities, ensuring enterprise strength and resilience by integrating risk management into investment processes.
- Continuous Improvement and Strategic Initiatives. Contribute to shaping investment strategies, advancing tools/automation/AI, defining future state, and advancing strategic initiatives to enable company strategy. Contribute to new business activities to identify and resolve key investment risk issues. Act as a technical expert on multi-asset investment risk. Provide strategic advice on optimization techniques.
Education And Experience:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Math, Finance, Economics, Actuarial Sciences, Statistics or related field
- M.B.A, Chartered Financial Analyst, and/or related equivalent accreditation
- 20+ years of experience across areas such as asset management, risk management, quantitative research, performance measurement, compliance and asset management data and governance
- 10+ years management experience
- Multi-disciplinary background possessing a combination of skills in disciplines like pricing, valuation, asset-liability management, risk management
Preferred:
- Experience in evaluating and implementing new systems (e.g. risk, performance, Loans, derivatives
- Professional memberships/affiliations/accreditation across financial and quantitative analysis, risk, and performance
- 10+ years of managing in an insurance or reinsurance firm
- 5+ years of financial reporting experience
- 5+ years investment performance and benchmarking experience
- Experience with broad asset types and currencies
- Management experience in global organization
- Experience working in virtual and/or remote team environments
- Exposure to multiple regulatory, accounting and capital regimes

Technical and Business Acumen
- Expert level of investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Deep knowledge of asset class and derivative risks/risk mitigation, pricing, valuation (and financial reporting impacts)
- Working knowledge of capital markets, insurance products, reinsurance concepts/methods
- Experience with Investment platforms, (e.g. Aladdin, Bloomberg) across portfolio management, risk, trading, compliance modules); experience with vetting and implementation of systems
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP, U.S. tax, U.S. and other regulatory, and economic capital and reporting frameworks
- Highly advanced knowledge of risk management approaches and statistical analysis
- Expert ability to challenge and enhance analytical capabilities
- Expertise in translating business needs and problems into viable and accepted solutions
- Expertise in analyzing and improving business processes

Compensation Range:
$255,600.00 - $366,533.00 AnnualBase pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
