The Safety Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring a safe and compliant work environment on all construction projects. This position is responsible for implementing and monitoring safety programs, conducting site inspections, ensuring compliance with OSHA and company safety standards, and training employees on best practices. The Safety Coordinator works closely with superintendents, project managers, and field crews to promote a culture of safety across the organization.

What You’ll Do:
- Site Safety Oversight
- Conduct regular jobsite safety walks and inspections.
- Identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure crews are following OSHA, state, and company safety requirements.
- Verify that personal protective equipment (PPE) is available and being used correctly.
- Training & Compliance
- Assist in delivering safety orientations for new employees and subcontractors.
- Support training programs such as OSHA 10/30, fall protection, confined space, and hazard communication.
- Maintain safety records, certifications, and compliance documentation.
- Communicate updated safety policies, procedures, and regulations to field teams.
- Incident Management
- Respond to and investigate accidents, near-misses, and safety violations.
- Document findings and assist in developing corrective action plans.
- Support reporting requirements for OSHA and internal safety records.
- Collaboration & Support
- Work directly with Superintendents and Project Managers to identify risks before and during construction activities.
- Promote safety awareness through toolbox talks, jobsite meetings, and daily check-ins.
- Coordinate with Safety Director on company-wide safety initiatives.
- Act as a resource for employees with safety-related questions or concerns.
Qualifications
What You’ll Bring:
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree in occupational safety or related field preferred.
- OSHA 30 certification strongly preferred (minimum OSHA 10 required).
- 2–5 years of experience in construction safety (mechanical, plumbing, or general contracting environment preferred).
- Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, local safety regulations, and construction practices.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence field teams.
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation and manage multiple priorities.
- Driving Requirements
- Must have a valid Virginia driver’s license.
- Must have positive points on state driving record.
- Must be at least 21 years of age unless company approval is granted.
- Must not have had a DUI, DWI, or reckless driving conviction in the last five years.
- All driving records are run as part of our pre-employment process and reviewed at the discretion of the Safety Team.
- Physical Requirements
- Must be able to crawl, kneel, squat, and climb.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, unassisted.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
