Position Specifics:
The Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission is looking for a highly motivated, team-oriented individual with a professional and proactive attitude. The HR Coordinator works in collaboration with the Human Resources Team, providing a wide range of Human Resources services to a workforce of over 380 employees.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent skills in communication, organization, and problem-solving.
The Essential Functions for this position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Conduct recruiting activities for commonly filled positions and answer questions concerning job vacancies for which applications are being accepted.
- Process personnel actions via the HRIS system.
- Assist employees in completing new hire paperwork and provide proper on-boarding orientations. Assure personnel files contain all necessary documentation.
- Facilitation of workers’ compensation claims and injury/incident reporting. Serve as liaison to the Safety Committee.
- Coordinate established company-wide training programs.
- Assist employees seeking general information concerning personnel policies and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Knowledge Required By The Position:
At the lower end of the range, the incumbent has knowledge of and skill in applying a standardized body of HR rules, procedures, and operations sufficient to provide standardized support work for an HR Specialist and/or HR Director involved in one or more specialties such as classification & pay, employee benefits, recruitment & placement, etc.
At the upper end of the range, the employee has knowledge of and skill in applying a comprehensive body of HR rules, procedures, and technical methods sufficient to carry out limited projects, analyze a variety of facts, research minor complaints or problems that are not readily understood, and/or summarize HR facts and issues.
Additional Mandatory Knowledge:
- HR Information System (ADP WorkForce Now preferred)
- Candidate Management System (ADP Recruiting Management preferred)
- Microsoft Excel
- Word Processing Software (Microsoft Word preferred)
- Advertising & Recruiting Techniques
- Worker's Compensation Laws
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Candidates must present 1-3 years’ experience in the HR field, preferably as an HR Assistant or HR Coordinator, that equipped them with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
