We are the Network Protection team within the Platforms domain and wider Technology. The Network Protection team is all about BNZ perimeter security, availability and providing protection from network to application level - It doesn’t matter where the application is hosted, on-prem. or cloud, we’ve got it covered
This is an Auckland based fixed-term opportunity for nine months. It is a hybrid role with three days in the office and two where you can work flexibly. Anchor days in the office are Wednesday as well as a Monday or Friday.

We sat down with the People Leader (who you would report to) and they told us the following about the role:
What are 5 day-to-day tasks the person in this role will complete?
- Support the wider team and the Product Owners in refining the backlog, research system user and environment aspects of any development to ensure that that the functional aspects of a given feature or service are well understood.
- Own requirements management including decisions on conflicting requirements across projects or programmes of work.
- Where applicable, co-ordinate and support change management activities, including reviewing/developing end user documentation (communication and training material), to support efficient and effective service delivery.
- Support Product Managers and Product Owners to recognise opportunities for stakeholders to leverage from existing functionality and make recommendations to increase or improve the usability of our systems and processes.
- Develop and maintain documentation and knowledge on the systems / services that Engineering deliver or utilise and wider Technology strategies.

What is your management style?
I embrace the laissez-faire management style. I have a super motivated team of highly skilled professionals, and I trust they will be successful and deliver quality work without me trying to micromanage them. I’m there when they need me and help the team to keep a focus on our long-term vision but on a day-by-day basis I expect self-management from each team member.
What technical skills are required for this role?
You will have thoughtful decision making to assist on delivery of the teams’ strategic direction as well as demonstrated expertise in mentoring, coaching, and training team members, fostering a collaborative and growth-orientated environment.
You will have experience in a senior engineering role including:
- Domain: Checkpoint firewall, Cisco ISE, Radius, TACACS+, Networking, 802.1x.
- OS: Checkpoint Gaia, Cisco, Arista, Windows, Linux.
- Platforms: Virtual machines, On Premise and Cloud (AWS / Azure).
- Automation experience using: Python, Bitbucket / Github, bash, Terraform, Ansible or others.
- DevOps and CIDC.
- Agile/SCRUM/KANBAN.
In addition, experience with Terraform and Ansible as well Banking or financial services is highly desirable.
What will success look like for the candidate in this role?
This role is temporary to backfill a team member on parental leave for 9 months. After a short introduction we expect you to hit the ground running. Specifically, that means picking up CheckPoint Firewall changes and investigate and solve incidents related to our network.
