Throughout the first 3-6 years of your career, you will undertake professional exams under the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) and ultimately qualify as a Fellow of the IFoA. 

What is Actuarial, Rewards & Analytics? 

Our Actuarial, Rewards, and Analytics (ARA) practice in Ireland stands as a leader among the country's actuarial service providers. ARA is a team of 40+ actuarial professionals, more than half of which are under 30, drawn from a wide range of academic and cultural backgrounds. Applications are encouraged from all numerical and programming disciplines, including mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, engineering, analytics, physics, chemistry, economics, artificial intelligence and machine learning amongst others. 

We offer expert advice and insights across the entire business lifecycle. Our clients include a wide range of domestic and international organizations, from life, general, and health insurance companies to banks and public bodies. 

In this role, you will engage in exciting projects from start to finish. You will get hands-on experience across a full spectrum of actuarial services, including: 

  • Model Design & Development 
  • Claims and Performance Analytics 
  • Machine Learning and AI Tool Development 
  • Product Performance and Process Efficiency 
  • Model, System, and Process Optimization 
  • Traditional Actuarial Services (e.g., valuation, pricing, Head of Actuarial Function, audit) 
  • Stakeholder Behavior Analysis

  • Statistical Hypothesis Testing

  • Risk Management

As part of one of the world’s largest actuarial practices, you will have access to over 800 actuarial professionals globally, ensuring we can deliver the specialized expertise our clients need. 

What You will Do: Making an Impact from Day One 

As an analyst in Deloitte’s ARA team, you will hit the ground running with client projects after your initial induction and technical training. During your first few years, you will explore a range of specialist areas—such as life insurance, general insurance, health insurance, banking, pensions, modeling, and analytics—before choosing your preferred focus. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Innovative Solutions: Create end-to-end solutions that drive real impact for our clients. 
  • Apply Analytical Skills: Use problem-solving and numerical abilities to tackle diverse challenges. 
  • Develop Analytical Tools: Utilize programming languages like VBA, R, Python, SAS, SQL, and more to craft advanced tools. 
  • Model Complex Systems: Design and build intricate models of long-term risks, asset/liability cashflows, and credit defaults. 
  • Collaborate with Senior Clients: Work closely with senior client personnel to shape business strategies, address emerging issues, and prepare for future challenges. 
  • Risk Management: Develop and review controls and procedures to mitigate client risks. 
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure client processes and controls align with regulatory and accounting standards like Solvency II, IFRS17, USGAAP, and IFRS9. 
  • Audit Expertise: Audit actuarial liabilities for insurers and pension schemes under various reporting standards. 

What We Are Looking For:

Applications are encouraged from all numerical and programming disciplines, including mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, engineering, analytics, physics, chemistry, economics, artificial intelligence and machine learning amongst others. Other requirements include: 

  • Achieved or are currently on target for a 2.1 honours degree or higher 
  • Achieved an A in Mathematics at Irish Leaving Certificate/Scottish Higher/A-level or equivalent 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills  
  • Experience of programming, machine learning or artificial intelligence is an advantage but not essential 
  • A proactive approach to work 
  • Ability to learn quickly 
  • A high level of self-motivation and commitment 
  • The ability to analyse and work through complex problems 
  • Flexibility, resilience and intellectual curiosity 
  • Ability to collaborate and work well within a team environment 
  • Demonstrated leadership and creative problem-solving skills
