Job Description
Sandisk is seeking a Product Security engineer interested in helping ensure our SSDs satisfy security requirements. Your strong foundation in Hardware and Firmware security is essential to fulfilling the role of a Product Security Engineer for flash storage devices (SSDs). As such, we are seeking an experienced HW/FW engineer with experience architecting and implementing HW/FW components that we can grow into an expert Product Security Engineer. As a Product Security Engineer, this individual will advise product development teams on security requirements, secure development best practices (SDL) and evaluate the architecture with a security lens. The Product Security Engineer will lead security risk assessments, guide threat modeling activities, and participate in validation of security requirements at the component or system level. Qualifications
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in FW engineering, with proficiency in C/C++ and one or more of the following: Python, Rust, Go.
- Develop firmware on SoC platforms, run simulation or bringing up FPGA and ASIC.
- Strong understanding of microcontroller architectures and debugging of hardware/firmware issues.
- Experience in firmware code review, CI/CD test and validation methodology, as well as static code analysis.
- Great communication skills and fluent English, both verbally and written, and an ability to collaborate across cultural and organizational boundaries.
- What Sets You Apart
- Technical expertise in applied cryptography and firmware/hardware security, including knowledge of data encryption, trusted execution environment, secure boot, and device attestation.
- Knowledge of storage controller architectures and security protocols, such as TCG Opal/Ruby/Pyrite, IEEE 1667, SPDM, and IDE.
- Knowledge of Secure Development Lifecycle (SDL) or industry best practices for secure development
- Proficiency in failure analysis in debugging an embedded firmware application, using JTAG/debuggers such as Lauterbach.
- Familiarity with writing code in Github repository and it’s CI/CD testing framework.
- Capable of developing wide system view for complex embedded systems
