Hennepin County District Court is seeking qualified candidates to fill a Court Operations Supervisor vacancy in the Traffic Violations Bureau.

The Court Operations Supervisor is responsible for leading the operations of the Traffic Violations Bureau, including reviewing, evaluating, planning, and streamlining daily functions. This position administers and enforces all relevant policies and procedures, leading the team as an effective role model. The Court Operations Supervisor assists in the development of division projects, goals, and objectives. This position works with the public, judges, court staff, partnering criminal justice departments, and various agencies to ensure that cases are processed timely and accurately. This position supervises seven employees, including a Leadworker, Specialist, and Court Operations Associates.  

Example Of Duties

  • Analyze work processes and streamline procedures to ensure that time standards, statutory guidelines and goals of the court are met
  • Select, coach, develop, and evaluate the performance of staff according to set standards. Assist in developing training programs and procedural manuals
  • Respond to and effectively resolve operational issues brought by staff and partnering criminal justice agencies
  • Recommend improvements in and oversee the implementation of new/revised policies and procedures in the Criminal Division's Traffic Violations Bureau
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the Hearing Office and other teams within the Hennepin County Criminal Division
  • Oversee the processing of all court documents, financial transactions, and balancing of bank deposits within the division. Maintain court records; prepare correspondence and financial and statistical reports
  • Establish schedules and monitor workloads to ensure staff are responding to and completing requests in a timely manner

Typical Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of experience as a Supervisor, Court Operations Leadworker, Court Operations Specialist, Court Operations Associate, or equivalent work in a court, or other fast-paced, high-volume, and technology-dependent environment

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to train, motivate, coach and supervise support personnel
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others as a team member 
  • Skilled in critical thinking, problem solving, conflict resolution, and excellent customer service
  • Ability to be self-directed, organized, adaptable, and work independently with minimal direct supervision
  • Ability to analyze problems, put effective changes into practice, and ensure compliance
  • Considerable knowledge and experience planning and implementing projects, initiatives, and tasks in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to express ideas concisely and clearly, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to research statutes, local ordinances, and Minnesota rules related to payable citations
  • Ability to research, comprehend, train and implement court administrative processes to staff

Preferred Qualifications

  • Paralegal, Associates, or Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Business Administration, Social Science, or a related field
  • Experience working in the Criminal Division
  • Considerable knowledge of effective supervisory and management techniques including effective team building and planning and/or supervising the work of others
  • Considerable knowledge and understanding of principles and practices of court proceedings, applicable statutes and rules, and records management
  • Experience with eCharging, e-Filing, MNCIS

Logistics
The Criminal Traffic Violations Bureau is located on the Public Service Level of the Hennepin County Government Center in downtown Minneapolis at 300 South 6th Street, Court Towers, SK-0871. The core hours for this position are 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, but may vary depending on the assignment and operational needs within the Division. This position works on-site with occasional flexibility to work remotely, which may change depending on business needs. 

Salary Range

The expected starting salary minimum is $34.40 and may be higher depending on qualifications. This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for State of MN employee benefits.
