Job Title: Outdoor Adventure Guide Supervisor
Department: Outdoor Adventures

Reporting To: Outdoor Adventure Guide & Expeditions Manager
Position Overview:
The Outdoor Adventure Guide Supervisor will oversee daily operations of the Outdoor Adventure Guides. The program consists of daily guided tours as well as backcountry expedition programs for adults and teenagers. This position will be responsible for guide training, daily staffing and operations, program safety and ensuring a high level of customer service for our public users and private Powder Haven membership. This position will support a variety of summer programs including rock climbing, canyoneering, backpacking, kayaking, hiking, stand up paddle boarding, mountain biking, kite sports, E-Foils basic instruction, Archery range supervision and more. As well as a variety of winter programs including, but not limited to, backcountry skiing, nordic skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and kiteskiing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight and direct support for guide staff
- Assist in hiring and training of Guide staff
- Train guide staff for seasonal programming
- Maintain high standard of operations for safety and member interaction
- Assist in developing SOP for daily activities including itineraries, staffing, training and emergency action plans associated with each activity
- Support in planning and development of off-site teen and adult expedition programs
- Execute daily programming with an attention to detail on luxury standards
- Ensure smooth backcountry operations for daily and expeditions programs
- Train staff on specialized backcountry knowledge and certifications needed for programs
- Interface with adjacent departments and external adventure vendors.
- Uphold the highest standards of luxury Outdoor Adventure operations for our current membership and prospective members
- Travel for expedition programs both regionally and internationally
- Coordinate and point communication with participants for pre and post program needs
- Inventory and maintenance of outdoor adventure and technical gear
- Coordinate daily set up and tear down for program needs
- Facilitate staffing and supervision of Archery program
- Facilitate staffing and supervision of additional Club programs created.
Requirements and/or Qualifications:
- Extensive professional background in Outdoor Adventure Guiding
- Experience in Outdoor Adventure guide staffing and training in technical skills
- Familiarity and background with high touch, luxury hospitality clientele
- Background in backcountry travel and trip operations including trip planning, coordination, equipment inspection and maintenance, and program operations
- Familiarity with diverse portfolio of Outdoor Adventure activities with an emphasis in fly fishing, backcountry skiing, rock and ice climbing, mountain biking and water sports instruction
- Developed leadership skills focused on culture and high standards of operations
- Luxury hospitality experience preferred
- Emergency management experience preferred
- WFR Minimum - WEMT Preferred
- Drive work vehicles
- Proficient swimming ability in calm and moving water.
- Spend extended periods of time on backcountry programming
- Pass background checks to lead and run youth programming
- Experience with technical rope skillset
- SPI certification preferred
- AAA Pro1 Avalanche (or equivalent) minimum- AAA Pro 2 preferred.
- Professional Fly fishing experience preferred
- AMGA SPI certification preferred
- Experience with archery range operations and sport preferred
- Professional Fly Fishing Experience preferred, specifically related to float trips and half day walk/wade
- Nordic Ski Instruction Experience Preferred for classic and skate skiing
- Snowshoe Experience Preferred
- Snowmobile Operations Preferred
- Kite Skiing Experience Preferred
Physical Requirements- Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to:
- Ski Tour 5,000+ vertical ft. Daily
- Ski and Hike with 40lb plus pack for a full day of operations
- Ability to move 200+lbs by toboggan or medical extrication device.
- Ability to navigate Backcountry Terrain in limited visibility/ Inclement weather.
- Ski expert level terrain.
- Climb 5.11+ Rock Routes
- Climb WI5+ Ice Routes
- Ability to swim in moving water.
Working Environment:
The working environment for this position ranges from indoor office environments to high alpine, desert, water based and hazardous outdoor environments. This position will spend extended periods of time in the backcountry for Outdoor Adventure programs both summer and winter.
