Cambrian Credit Union is currently seeking a Power BI Developer. The Power BI Developer plays an integral role on the Business Intelligence Team and is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of visualizations, dashboards and reports, that will focus business efforts on the right activities at the right time. This incumbent will have extensive experience converting data into hindsight's, insights and foresights that will foster informed business decisions and strategic initiatives. The Power BI Developer will enable continuous improvement in Power BI platform development across the organization and ensure a reliable and secure reporting environment. 

The Power BI Developer thrives in a multi-disciplinary setting and will cultivate strong working relationships with the Data and BI teams.  They will be responsible for analyzing and implementing project requirements to meet user acceptance criteria while uncovering data/information needs, troubleshooting issues and providing training and support to end users. 

In the role of Power BI Developer, you will:

  • Use data and technology to help solve business problems by designing and/or creating data models, dashboards and reports of patterns, findings, insights and anomalies related to key business metrics using Power BI.
  • Develop, test, and deploy new or upgraded analytics services, operational performance scorecards and dashboards in a logical and concise manner.
  • Maintain & update existing applications, data models, reports, metrics, dataflows and semantic models as business needs evolve.
  • Consult with internal teams and business subject matter experts to identify information & reporting needs and solve data-related issues when they are identified. Enable continuous improvement by providing suggestions for business process changes.
  • Translate requirements into effective Power BI applications. Provide actionable tools and reports for business units. Leverage Power BI AI, NLP, Q&A features to maximize the user experience and efficiently highlight insights from the data.  
  • Be a key contributor to the advancement of Business Intelligence across the organization and optimize the Power Platform/M365 suite to integrate BI further into daily business operations.
  • Manage existing and create new MS Dynamics Reports both in app and in Power BI, using OOTB semantic models/reports and/or creating customized content. 
  • Contribute to and support the development of the Power BI Service data infrastructure, inclusive of dataflows and semantic models.
  • Plan for/troubleshoot changes to data resulting from the innovation of technology, products and services.

Your Education & Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience with in-depth data/business analysis or similar experience, with strong technical and analytical background.
  • Advanced PC skills and experience with the MS Office suite
  • Extensive knowledge & expertise creating BI solutions and conducting deep-dive data analysis.
  • Advanced knowledge of Power BI Platform, SQL, DAX, M
  • Strong analytical skills with a background in evaluating requirements and business impact
  • Effective time management skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Self-motivated with strong critical thinking and problem resolution skills
  • Proven ability to take initiative, make good judgments, and use discretion
  • The following would be considered an asset:
    • Experience working in Retail Financial Services in sales, admin or BI
    • Experience working in an Agile Methodology work environment
    • Experience working in the Microsoft 365 ecosystem/Power Platform
    • Experience building/customizing Reporting in Dynamics 365
