About the position: Arkana Laboratories is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Mass Spectrometry Lab Technician to join our newly established laboratory team. The successful candidate will play a key role in processing and analyzing samples according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and contribute to maintaining the highest standards of data quality and laboratory safety. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with a strong background in analytical chemistry and mass spectrometry who is eager to grow and develop within a dynamic research environment. 

What you'll do: 

Sample Preparation & Processing: 

Prepare, handle, and process samples for mass spectrometric analysis in accordance with laboratory SOPs and quality control protocols

Quality Assurance & Compliance: 

Adhere to all laboratory safety protocols and quality control standards; maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation for all procedures and results

Method Development & Validation: 

Collaborate with the Laboratory Director and other team members on method development, validation, and optimization of analytical procedures as needed

Inventory & Supply Management: 

Monitor laboratory inventory, including chemicals, reagents, and consumables; place orders and manage supplies to ensure uninterrupted laboratory operations

Collaboration & Communication: 

Work closely with team members to ensure smooth workflow and consistent data quality; communicate findings, issues, and improvements to the Laboratory Director 

You should have: 

Education:          Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications are a plus.         

Experience:         1-3 years of experience working in a laboratory environment, preferably with mass   spectrometry and/or analytical instrumentation. Experience in sample preparation and instrument calibration is highly desirable        

Technical Skills: Skilled in accurate pipetting, solution preparation, and reagent handling to support reproducible experimental workflows.

Experience with standard molecular biology and chemistry techniques (e.g., sample preparation, dilution series, buffer formulation).

Knowledge of laboratory best practices, including sterile technique, safe chemical handling, and maintaining clean, organized workspaces.

Soft Skills: 

Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills. 

Ability to follow detailed SOPs and maintain accurate records. 

Strong problem-solving abilities and willingness to learn. 

Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment. 

Certifications & Compliance: 

Knowledge of laboratory safety standards and good laboratory practices (GLP). 

Compliance with relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations. 

Other Requirements: Dependable with strong reliability and consistent attendance.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 7am-4pm, onsite at the main office in Little Rock, Arkansas.
