Job Overview: As an Operations Risk and Controls Analyst within LPL Financial, you will contribute to promoting risk informed decision-making and strengthening the firm’s regulatory and controls framework, with particular attention to reconciliation processes and books and records obligations.

You will work closely with business leaders to support the identification, tracking, and remediation of risks. You will help evaluate control environments, identify areas of improvement, and develop effective mitigation strategies that align with the industry’s best practices and regulatory expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct the physical securities counts of securities stored in the Fort Mill vault, in accordance with LPLs regulatory risk and controls framework
  • Develop, document, and maintain appropriate job procedures and controls. Evaluate existing processes related to reconciliation and books and records to identify gaps and procedural inefficiencies. Recommend and implement enhancements to strengthen the control environment, reduce risk exposure, and optimize operational effectiveness.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate completion of daily tasks to maintain operational continuity and compliance. Actively cross train and help teammates and ensure seamless coverage of responsibilities.
  • Assist with vendor relationships and maintain regular oversight to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and service standards. Review vendor invoices for accuracy, appropriateness, and escalate discrepancies as needed.
  • Investigate and analyze system errors or discrepancies to determine root causes and escalate to your leadership as needed. Develop and implement timely, effective resolutions to ensure data integrity and minimize operational disruption.
  • Prepare reports and escalate issues in alignment with the firm’s risk management framework, ensuring timely visibility of potential concerns. Proactively identify opportunities to strengthen risk mitigation practices and enhance control effectiveness. Champion continuous improvement initiatives and foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and risk awareness.
  • Promote a culture of risk awareness and ownership by engaging in training, educational initiatives, and risk management consultative support.
  • Maintain a current and comprehensive understanding of business processes and workflows to ensure alignment with evolving regulatory requirements and risk management and controls.
  • Implement and reinforce internal governance processes to ensure compliance with corporate policies, regulatory expectations, and risk management standards. Provide a risk-centric perspective on business strategies, and initiatives, assessing implications and promoting risk-informed decision making. Drive positive change by identifying control enhancements, advocating for sustainable solutions, and supporting transformation efforts across the firm.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or economics from an accredited university/college or 2+ years of equivalent financial industry/operations experience .

 Core Competencies:

  • Effective communicator, and detail orientated.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, adapt to unexpected events, apply critical thinking, perform independent analysis, collaborate with peers across departments, prioritize and multi-task in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft applications, particularly, VISIO, WORD, ACCESS, PowerPoint, SQL, and Excel.

Preferences:

  • Moderate experience with excel and advanced functions
  • SEC broker dealer experience or experience with large, diversified financial services firms.
  • Experience with broker dealer stock record systems, BETA, Alteryx, Microsoft SQL Queries, and FIS Loanet (SMART Seg Maintenance & Suite of Solutions).
  • Licenses/Certifications: SIE or Series 99 preferred


 

Pay Range:

$28.95-$48.26/hour


 

Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
