POSITION SUMMARY
The Radiation Oncology Practice Manager is responsible for the daily operational management of the radiation oncology department within the community cancer center. This leadership role provides direct oversight of clinical and technical staff—including radiation therapists, nurses, and medical assistants—as well as front desk and administrative personnel.
The position ensures efficient patient throughput, staff coordination, regulatory compliance, and the delivery of high-quality patient care and service. The manager collaborates closely with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, and nursing staff to support seamless care coordination and safe, effective treatment delivery.
This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts, and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, nursing, or related field required. A minimum of 5–7 years of clinical experience in radiation oncology may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
If applicable, must maintain an active New Jersey RT or RN license.
EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in healthcare practice management, preferably in oncology or a specialty care setting.
• Strong understanding of radiation oncology operations, workflows, and treatment delivery processes.
• Experience supervising multidisciplinary clinical and technical teams.
• Knowledge of outpatient clinical operations, EMR systems (e.g., Mosaiq, ARIA, Cerner), and healthcare regulatory standards.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage priorities, resolve conflicts, lead change, foster teamwork, and drive performance improvements.
PREFERRED:
• Previous experience in a radiation oncology department or cancer center.
• Familiarity with ACR or ASTRO accreditation standards.
• Active clinical licensure (e.g., ARRT, RN) a plus, but not required.
• Project management or process improvement certification preferred.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Demonstrates the competencies and technical skills required for effective practice operations as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risks of a healthcare environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous substances, and potential injury. Requires the ability to work in a fast-paced clinical setting and to utilize proper body mechanics when supporting staff and patient needs.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This position reports to the Director of Oncology Operations.
