Job Summary

Under supervision, performs various clerical tasks to assist in the processing and renewal of Aviation policies and contracts for the Underwriting department.

Relying on limited experience and knowledge, this role is responsible for accomplishing the following assignments. These assignments are varied in nature and frequently non-routine.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Underwriters daily in quoting and servicing accounts in an accurate and timely manner, within level of expertise, utilizing manuals, company policies, reference material, etc., as needed.
  • Request additional data requested by Underwriting to facilitate pricing, along with premium and loss information for risk analysis and experience rating, where required from the appropriate sources (agent, production representative) as directed.
  • Issue various certificates, as required, in a timely manner.
  • Maintain diary and suspense file to ensure that all Underwriters' requests are answered within specified periods of time.
  • Liaise between Underwriters and Agents by fax and/or phone to obtain or confirm information to ensure accurate quote.
  • Assist in evaluation of renewals by collecting updated application information, updated loss and premium data checking exposures, values and rates, etc. as directed by Underwriting.
  • Prepare expirations and forwards to Underwriting accordingly.
  • Maintain declined and dead quote files, as directed.
  • Review new setups and binders, checks for accuracy.
  • Assist Underwriter in preparation of reports and logs, as required.
  • File and fax of quotes, agent correspondence, etc.

Liaise between Processing and Underwriter.

Education

Education Level High school or GED

Experience

Years of Experience 2 Years

Area of Experience Relevant and progressive experience in Underwriting

Other

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as plan of benefits, bid specifications, claim reports, and procedural manuals
  • Possess and have ability to apply basic knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy
  • Good organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Intermediate proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)

Additional Working Conditions and Physical Demands

  • Overtime hours may be required to fulfill job responsibilities
  • May be required to remain stationary for extended periods of time
  • May be required to move up to 10 pounds
  • Must be able to operate a computer and other devices
