Role
Sefton Sixth Form College is seeking a Teacher of Biology to join our Faculty of Maths, Science & Health directorate. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, learning and assessment to ensure successful learner outcomes and maximise student potential.

Sefton Sixth Form College is a sixth form college in Litherland, Sefton. It is a part of Hugh Baird College and was formerly known as the Hugh Baird College South Sefton Campus. The Sixth Form was founded in 2009, and is a vibrant, state-of-the-art campus offering an extensive choice of A-level subjects, as well as a small number of BTEC and GCSE courses. The campus is located approximately 7 miles away from Liverpool City Centre.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:- Teach A-level Biology
- Implement effective feedback and assessment systems
- Deliver lessons aligned with TLA Principles
- Contribute to curriculum innovation, development, and implementation
- Maintain a professional learning environment
- Contribute to the delivery of the enhancement program
- Deliver motivating and inspiring teaching and learning
- Develop assessments and provide constructive feedback
- Facilitate learning using appropriate materials and methods
- Utilise technology to enable independent learning
- Embed employability skills through teaching and learning
- Consistently challenge lateness and attendance concerns
- Establish and maintain relationships with students
- Take part in reviews of course performance and curriculum development
- Participate in professional development and training activities
Criteria
- Possess a degree in Biology or a related subject.
- Possess a PGCE/Certificate of education or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Track record of successful teaching experience within a Sixth Form setting, preferably teaching A level Biology.
- Detailed knowledge of relevant course subject matter and examination and assessment requirements.
- Understanding of value added and the use of progress performance measures.
- Experience of developing and maintaining external partnerships to enrich teaching and learning.
- Ability to provide clear, direct and constructive written and verbal feedback.
