Job Description
The House of Commons Office of the Clerk is currently looking to staff the Senior Advisor position. The purpose of this recruitment and selection process is to staff the position on a long-term basis, for a period of two (2) years with the possibility of an extension.
This recruitment and selection process is restricted to employees of the House of Commons Administration who currently work at the ADG-C or IPG-C levels and above, or who have previously held acting assignments at the ADG-C or IPG-C levels for more than 90 days.
In this role, you are accountable for overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day office management activities for the Office of the Clerk including the Clerk's Management Group meetings, ensuring the effective and timely review and processing of all information, files, correspondence, request for approvals and other administrative aspects linked to the Clerk's responsibilities and accountabilities.
These responsibilities include the supervision of the senior administrative coordinators and senior administrative assistant to the Office of the Clerk and to the Board of Internal Economy Secretariat. You are also responsible for personally engaging Members of Parliament and senior management of the House of Commons to address a wide range of operational and administrative matters, issues and complaints, and to research and seek solutions that effectively address issues on behalf of the Chief of Staff and Clerk.

Qualifications
Education :
- University degree from a recognized institution or a post-secondary diploma with an acceptable combination of experience.
Experience :
- Knowledge of the business environment of the House of Commons and the services provided to Members;
- Experience in the coordination and delivery of services;
- Experience in analyzing and synthesizing reference material and preparing written documentation (i.e. briefing notes, official correspondence and reports);
- Experience managing multiple projects and activities concurrently with tight deadlines;
- Experience in interacting and collaborating effectively with diverse stakeholder groups and partners;
- Experience in facilitating solutions to sensitive operational matters.
- Experience in leading teams;
- Experience in dealing with high-profile clients.
Assets :
- Knowledge of and/or experience with any of the following: presenting to CMG, supporting MP's and their staff, representing senior management on corporate working groups;
- Presenting briefings and expert recommendation to senior management, advising on rules of procedure, driving change initiatives.
