At Nautilus, we have a big and important mission: improve the health of millions by unleashing the potential of the proteome to accelerate drug development and enable a new world of precision and personalized medicine. We are developing a single-molecule protein analysis platform of unprecedented sensitivity, scale, and ease of use that we believe will democratize access to the proteome – one of the most dynamic and valuable sources of biological insight. To accomplish this, we are pursuing hard scientific problems with an entrepreneurial mindset and creating a world-class team of builders, innovators, and dreamers across a wide range of disciplines.
We are hiring for a Reagent Manufacturing Associate II to join our growing team. This role will oversee the day-to-day production of chemical and biological reagents. This role is responsible for ensuring the efficient, compliant, and high-quality manufacturing of reagents used in [e.g., diagnostic assays, research products, clinical applications]. The ideal candidate will have strong project leadership skills, deep knowledge of reagent formulation and production processes, and experience working in a regulated laboratory or manufacturing environment. Candidate should be comfortable working both independently on routine tasks and collaboratively on more complex operations, escalating issues as appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Perform and coordinate reagent production activities with minimal guidance to meet operational goals, batch schedules, and quality standards.
- Ensure manufacturing processes are executed according to SOPs, batch records, and regulatory guidelines (e.g., ISO 13485, GMP).
- Perform reagent formulation, antibody conjugation/purification, buffer preparation, mixing, filtration, filling, and labeling operations.
- Collaborate with Quality Control, R&D, and Supply Chain to troubleshoot issues and optimize workflows.
- Maintain accurate production documentation and ensure traceability and compliance with documentation practices.
- Operate HPLC systems, Small-scale TFF benchtop systems, Tangential Flow Filtration Systems, Automated Liquid Handling systems, process troubleshooting, and data analysis.
- Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and coordinate with procurement for replenishment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, including process optimization and cost reduction.
- Train junior team members on equipment, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and calibration of manufacturing equipment.
- Investigate and document deviations, non-conformances, and participate in root cause analysis and CAPA implementation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3–5 years of experience in reagent or chemical manufacturing, preferably in a regulated environment.
- Strong knowledge of GMP, ISO 13485, or other relevant quality systems.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated, adaptable to shifting priorities, and comfortable in a fast-paced, small-company environment.
- Knowledge of systems such as HPLC, Small-scale TFF benchtop systems, Tangential Flow Filtration Systems, Automated Liquid Handling systems, Benchling, and electronic batch records is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing reagents for diagnostic or life sciences applications.
- Familiarity with ERP or MES systems (e.g., Oracle, NetSuite) and LIMS systems.
- Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma training/certification.
Work Environment
- Laboratory and manufacturing setting with potential exposure to chemicals and biological materials.
- Requires use of PPE and adherence to safety protocols.
- May involve occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs), standing for long periods, and working in cold rooms or cleanroom environments.
Nautilus Team Culture
- We are determined to do whatever it takes to get our platform into the hands of researchers who will use it to upend the status quo in basic research and healthcare.
- We work on cross functional teams, wear many hats, take risks to work through uncertainty, enjoy working collaboratively on challenging problems, and celebrate one another’s victories.
- We go above and beyond, but also strive to provide a supportive atmosphere of colleagues who are willing to lend a helping hand and make working at Nautilus not only fulfilling in its end goals, but enjoyable on a day-to-day basis.
