Janitorial Supervisor

Hourly Wage Range: $50K-52K Annually

Job Summary:

The principal responsibility of the supervisor is to ensure the proper cleaning and maintenance of multiple buildings in accordance with the contract requirements.

 

General Responsibilities:

• Supervise cleaning services (including janitorial and floor care) within multiple buildings, large commercial or industrial buildings or complex.
• Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in janitorial services.
• Assigns janitorial work to employees, following material and work requirements.
• Trains workers in janitorial methods and procedures and proper operation of equipment.
• Inspects work performed to ensure conformance to specifications and established standards.
• Issues janitorial supplies and equipment to workers to ensure quality and timely delivery of services.
• Recommends personnel actions, such as hires and discharges, to ensure proper staffing.
• Monitors employee performance, work habits and behavior.
• Provides employee coaching and counseling and documents each interaction.
• Processes employee time reporting and ensures timely and accurate payrolls.
• May need to provide janitorial support on an as-needed basis during employee vacancies.

Basic Qualifications:

•  Bilingual -- Spanish fluency required
• College degree or some college preferred.
• At least two years of recent janitorial supervisory experience
• Valid California driver’s license.
• Computer proficiency.
• Familiarity with electronic or biometric timekeeping systems.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Understand and be able to explain and enforce the employee handbook, the hazard communication program, bloodborne pathogen procedure and all safety policies and procedures.
• Physical Requirements:
• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Push and pull up to 50 lbs.
• Stands and moves within assigned work area, or building for 6 to 7 hours (excluding breaks and lunch)
• Some bending, stooping, and reaching as necessary to complete the work.
