Associate (Research Dissemination and Strategic Engagement), Paediatrics & Child Health -MC

Introduction:

The Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has ten community-based field sites across Pakistan (including four in Karachi) and focuses on research for betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that cater to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for capturing high-quality documentary-style footage that highlights our department’s work, field activities, and human-centered stories. The role will also involve basic editing, though the focus will remain on videography, including:

• monitoring all of the project(s) activities

• documenting Focus Group Discussions and conducting in-depth interviews in the field and on campus

• documenting meetings, research material gathered with government officials, non-government officials, and community leaders during the data collection in the field

• updating the status of work to the PI and Co-PI

• collecting field notes and data, and coming up with innovative ways to present to aid cognitive uptake at the community level

• participating and organizing workshops with stakeholders, and keeping a record of the meetings

• meeting timelines as per the assigned schedule and guidelines

• quality check

• providing documentation of qualitative and quantitative data to Co-PI, PI for research papers

• translating, transcribing recorded data into Urdu and English

• rewriting patient education material based on research and results of the project

• participating in project meetings and proposing recommendations to improve the data quality

• translating research material into the desired language i.e., English or Urdu, as per the requirement of the research study

• compliance as per protocol

• preparation and submission of study reports

• presenting the research study and dissemination material in the required formats for different stakeholder groups;

• submitting progress reports with the Supervisor as per the decided timelines;

• carrying out a literature search on the relevant topics related to the study and presenting it to the Supervisor as per the requirement

• timely submission of reports.

Requirement

You should have:

• a Bachelor's degree

• two years of relevant experience

• expertise in documenting meetings and discussions of training teams and participants

• willingness to frequently travel to different locations to gather information/metrics on the progress of departmental research projects;

• excellent interpersonal communication and coordination skills;

• ability to work independently and in a team;

• ability to meet deadlines;

• strong written and verbal communication skills in Urdu/English;

• strong computer skills; InPage, Microsoft Word, Excel etc

• good data visualisation skills with Flourish, Datawrapper, Google Sheets.
