Lead Animator - Freelance

REALTIME is on the lookout for a Freelance Lead Animator to join one of our existing projects.

We are looking for a very talented Lead Animator who has a wealth of experience in both Mocap animation and keyframe animation to help us deliver a really exciting Games project.

This role would suit someone who can display a background of delivering motion capture focused productions, create forward-thinking and captivating animations, and has the ability to lead a remote based team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work on a wide array of Mocap driven character animations.

• Liaise with the client and ensure that there is clear communication to pass down to team members.

• Oversee and lead a small animation project team, being able to provide creative and technical leadership, support, and feedback.

• Assist and deliver quality animation based on creative briefs.

• Delivering against client requirements and ensuring creative continuity across projects.

• Maximising productivity across an animation team by ensuring there is consistent delivery by monitoring the team and identifying any roadblocks.

MUST HAVE SKILLS & QUALITIES:

• Ability to direct engaging character performance.

• Expertise within using Maya to create engaging animation performances.

• Experience working with Mocap data is essential

• A strong technical background in Maya with efficient rigging knowledge is desirable.

• Deep understanding of animation within visual effects for games/film/television.

• Experience as an animation supervisor, lead animator or animation director within a VFX studio.

• An effective people coach, with a focus on team development.
