ML Tech Lead, Sensor Intelligence

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in Software Development.
• 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
• 5 years of experience in leading technical project strategy, Machine Learning (ML) design, and optimizing ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, data processing, debugging, fine tuning).
• 5 years of experience with one or more of the following: Speech/audio (e.g., technology duplicating and responding to the human voice), reinforcement learning (e.g., sequential decision making), ML infrastructure, or specialization in another ML field.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in machine learning, deep learning, and AI development, with a proven track record of building and deploying production-level models and ML-Infra.
• Ability to work effectively with teams, including Product Managers, ML Software Engineers, and other stakeholders, to drive AI adoption and integration.
• Ability to build relationships globally, ensuring effective collaboration between local and US-based teams to deliver AI-driven solutions.
• Ability to work with distributed teams across multiple time zones, fostering excellent communication, collaboration, and a sense of shared purpose even in a remote work environment.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

Responsibilities

• Do research on sensor technologies and evaluate large-scale sensor data for training sensor foundation models.
• Build new sensor foundation models and write and test product or system development code.
• Collaborate with researchers and translate research findings from sensor data into practical applications for Fitness and health.
• Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
