Position Summary

Technical Systems Integration (TSI) seeks a Mid-Level Advanced Tactical Training specialist with Amphibious Warfare (AMW) expertise to support the Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) at the Surface Advanced Warfighting School (SAWS) in San Diego, CA. This role focuses on advanced tactical training instruction, curriculum development, and performance analysis for amphibious and expeditionary forces, with primary expertise in Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) operations and employment.

Essential Functions

Advanced Tactical Instruction & Curriculum Development

  • Support instruction in formal schoolhouse and classroom environments for WTI and SMWDC courses of instruction
  • Provide technical and tactical expertise to support lecture delivery and update/revise course materials for AMW mission areas
  • Develop, evaluate, and update curricula for SMWDC amphibious warfare and SSDS-equipped platform operations
  • Incorporate warfare principles to meet Navy Mission Essential Task List (NMETL) and Surface Force training objectives
  • Ensure training materials comply with Navy curriculum standards and incorporate applicable AMW doctrine and Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs)

Training Event Support & Evaluation

  • Contribute, support, and evaluate advanced warfare training in shipboard (in-port) and classroom environments
  • Support Surface Warfare Advanced Tactical Training (SWATT), AMW Courses of Instruction (COI), and expeditionary warfare training events
  • Provide planning and administrative support to SWATT Lead Planners including Letters of Instruction (LOI) drafting, planning conference coordination, and OPAREA scheduling
  • Conduct exercise control watchstanding during amphibious and expeditionary training events

Performance Analysis & Metrics Management

  • Support performance analysis of amphibious ship tactical readiness through data collection and analysis of performance metrics
  • Analyze SWATT and Live Fire With a Purpose performance data for SSDS-equipped platforms
  • Coordinate and execute Data Analysis Working Groups (DAWGs) focused on amphibious warfare capabilities
  • Work with technical organizations to provide required analytical products for AMW mission areas
  • Develop and provide performance analysis reports and briefings for expeditionary and amphibious operations

Technical Documentation & Materials Development

  • Evaluate existing AMW training materials and procedures, making recommendations for technical accuracy and quality improvements
  • Provide product graphics and technical writing to support amphibious warfare style guides, lesson topic guides, and specialized briefings
  • Develop operational and technical documentation supporting SMWDC AMW training events
  • Ensure adequate references, resources, and quality standards across all AMW training materials

Requirements

Required Qualifications

Experience:

  • 10+ years of Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) experience
  • 8+ years of experience onboard SSDS-equipped platforms
  • Expeditionary Strike Group, Fleet, Major Training Command, or Systems Testing Command planning experience

Required Certifications & Qualifications:

  • Qualified and experienced in watch stations with authority to employ SSDS (Tactical Action Officer or Combat Direction Center Watch Officer)
  • Must possess Tactical Action Officer Qualification letter

Required Technical Skills:

  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative assessment methods supporting war-fighting readiness, capabilities, and capacity evaluations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Word)
  • Knowledge of SSDS operations, amphibious warfare tactics, and expeditionary combat systems

Required Competencies:

  • Expert-level understanding of amphibious warfare tactics and SSDS operations
  • Strong instructional design and classroom teaching capabilities
  • Ability to develop and analyze complex performance metrics for amphibious operations

Preferred Qualifications

Technical Expertise:

  • Warfare Tactics Instructor (WTI) qualification in AMW
  • Experience with advanced SSDS planning tools and systems
  • Familiarity with expeditionary warfare planning and execution processes

Domain Knowledge:

  • Experience with Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG) operations
  • Knowledge of Navy Mission Essential Task List (NMETL) development for amphibious forces
  • Understanding of Surface Warfare Advanced Tactical Training (SWATT) methodologies for amphibious platforms

Professional Background:

  • Experience with amphibious warfare development centers or training commands
  • Previous assignment to Expeditionary Strike Groups or Amphibious Ready Groups
  • Background in curriculum development for amphibious warfare instruction

Work Location

  • Primary Location: Surface Advanced Warfighting School (SAWS)
  • 4170 Norman Scott Road, Bldg 3292, Suite 4, San Diego, CA 92136
  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 0730-1600 (40-hour work week)
  • Occasional extended hours during training events and exercises
